Was just thinking how he would be a nice complement to JD at DH.

It's not franchise altering obviously, but I don't hate this move.

According to the MiLB transaction page, RHP Rubby De La Rosa has signed with the Dodgers. He's been assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma.

He has been in Japan's NPB since 2019.

His numbers don't look bad, but it's obviously lesser talent and he saw limited action as a reliever.

I think he gets the majority of at bats in LF with Taylor as the everyday CFer.

let’s have a (little league) rule that disappears completely in the postseason
    fucken idiots

    Jesse Rogers@JesseRogersESPN
Breaking: MLB’s Joint Competition Committee has voted unanimously to make the extra inning rule permanent for all regular season games moving forward. (2023 and beyond). A runner will be placed at second base at the start of every extra inning. Story coming at espn.

Just catching up on Dodgers (lack of) news after a weekend away.

My immediate comparison on signing Peralta is Victorino. Both were perceived Dodger-killers in my mind (but in reviewing stats neither was). Victorino stunk in blue and had better seasons for other teams in the years immediately preceding and following his time here. I don't know why, but my expectations for Peralta are the same.

way to address unnecessary shit manfred

    Jesse Rogers@JesseRogersESPN
The competition committee also voted unanimously to allow position players to pitch only in extra innings, in the ninth inning when leading team is up by 10 or more runs or anytime when the trailing team is down by 8 or more.

Yup. What a useless rule. So much for justifying keeping a Hanser Alberto on your roster.

But now I need to ask. Obviously this rule wouldn't apply to Ohtani. But where do you draw the line? Say you have a mostly position player who's also a serviceable pitcher. Do you need to designate him as a two-way player before the season?

MLB has a criteria that is based upon innings pitched in the previous season.

I'm still not following the Dodgers gameplan for this offseason. If resetting the luxury tax rate was the priority, they're failing. They were $5M over before Peralta, and his signing has just made it worse. Not my preference, but if that was the goal, they should've just committed to this strategy and traded someone to ensure they got below the threshhold - sacrificing this season for the good of the future. Now, they're going to be over for another season, thereby increasing the penalty rate for next year, so we'll be in even a bigger hole next winter. Might as well have just signed some big names to keep us competitive.

I can't help but think this front office is like a deer in headlights - unsure of what to do so they do pretty much nothing.
