Of course he is not playing that guitar.
    He is playing something else.
Depp as a professional actor came in late in order to fully embody the character he is currently playing.

If we're talking rad bassist's Les Claypool has my vote.. ripped in the 90's band Primus.

Also can't forget the bassists for Tool. Those dudes killed it.

not sure how i could have looked past this song
stumbled on it and i think he's singing about a love for heroin
but i really don't care because its an ominous and incredible piece of art
and weiland may have been the last great rock star

Why tf does everything that makes you feel good or tastes good kill you?
Why can't drugs, ice cream, bacon, cigarettes, cheese, etc.,etc., be good for you?
I guess we can pretend that kale is as good as french fries and barbequed spare ribs, but we all know what bs all that is...what's up wit dat ?
Rube, we turn our lonely eyes to you for the answer...

    reed was great
    and imo severely underrated/underappreciated
you've got all these assclowns trying to be the edgy new yorker...
lou reed never tried -- he was that guy
loved his velvet underground stuff too -- foggy notion, andy's chest, et al

love bowie and iggy but was never a huge lou reed fan
i always listen to the stuff you post from lou and its really cool ( i know you love him btw lol)
OTT used to have a lot of guys who don't post anymore sharing new music and i miss that
oh where are ye chrisdodgers and nirvanakurdt et al?
sometimes it seems like visiting other countries
just not enough time to pay attention to all the great music thats out there but i'm gonna die trying

my kids laugh that I listen to alt KROQ but that's where I hear new talent

its out there all around us, it's a musical world

if you're listening for the harmonics

ah BZ thats the beauty of it

you want to make 113? then live like a monk and eat the kale etc. Drink and live the kool-aid lifestyle.
you want to enjoy your bacon and whiskey et al then accept making 70ish

not sure how much 'life' there is after 80 anyways
you're pretty fuckin frail by then so whats the point? Ya saved it for what?

I like the old cartoon about sliding into my grave at full speed with a cocktail in my hand but have lived long enough to know that you go full bore and it ends at 27. Eating healthy actually makes me feel good but that also includes a juicy medium rare ribeye too. Yep that fat will kill me... but what a way to go.

    Carry on Rube

highly recommend putting out the $10, or 15 for the whole family, and grabbing spotify
after you get to making your own playlists it will make up other ones based on your taste
you don't have to listen to those but the daily mixes are a great way to hear new stuff from any genre you enjoy
for instance if you make a classic rock playlist your daily might have little feat, savoy brown and trex
alt rock would give you little dragon, spoon and m83
not stuff that a lot of us might have heard the first time around and its really good stuff
like for instance who knew the afghan whigs were still recording music?
i loved this bands 80s stuff and heard this song recorded last year on one of the daily mixes
had to go look up the lyrics and found this cool video
"so far inside you now i am your silhoutte"
whigs were always black music for the bad man
would like to catch them live at a small venue for cheap

    Why?
    Ignorance.
Food does not kill you. It makes you stronger. It is nutrition for your belly.

Bacon is not Food but it feels good in the mouth. Bacon is processed from the animal used to process people who are made to disappear by the underworld.
I was at a party today for a woman in her 40s because she has been given months to live. She showed my mom the worms in her forehead. Trichinosis from eating pork. A worm in pigs who have eaten human flesh. This worm eats your brain and your mind becomes swiss cheese.
Cannibals get this disease as well.
Which is why pig is so tasty. It tastes like people. And why its the most addictive flesh.

Ice cream will not kill you. Cheese neither.
    Neither will a cig.
If you let them control you then yeah it will kill you.
    Same with anything.
Lots of fruits are bad for you if you eat too much.

Food is for your belly not your mouthfeel.
When you are born you are basically a slug with a mouth. Your mouth is what u use to feel the world around you. For a bit it is the only sense you can control. So you stick everything you find into your mouth.
Eventually you evolve and stop sticking garbage in your mouth.

Eat with your belly and not with your mouth. Or eat what you want.
Nothing that you eat will kill you unless you carry death inside you already.
Then even kale will kill you.

    PS... fuck kale.

Sorry if this shifts the whole conversation, but with the earlier talk about Lou Reed and new music, I just wanted to say that sometimes the old mellow stuff hits the spot.

There are times when things are tough and you try to carry on. Music helps me in these times.

This song hits the spot in those times. But I am also so amazed how good Art sounds in a live environment. It is amazing, and lifts the song to another level. He just nails it.

    Anyway, just my two cents.

Poster from my first and only visit to the Fillmore West. I bought a 6x8 copy of this a few years ago from Wolfgang's Vault.

That might have been one of Humble Pie's first US tours. Imagine them as fourth bill? Music from about 8 pm until 3 am.
