The line between American-made and foreign cars is so blurred now that it could be just as patriotic to buy a foreign car. Toyota and Ford, for instance, are the same when it comes to how American they are.

thats true but i've owned a whole lot of both
and i can keep any of my japanese cars w basic service and oil changes knowing i can get in it and drive to NYC
last american cars i owned were new 99 silverado, 01 and 03 durangos and they were great...for the first 2.5 years
then came the wind sounds and engine noises and shit not working or dummy lights on one after another
i have an 00 GS an 02 tundra and 05 rx350 and treated myself to a 17 gs350 after selling the lair
none of those has given me any of the aforementioned problems w those american cars
in fact i've done nothing but change oil and do the scheduled maintenance and have yet to have one of them not start when i turned the key
not sure i even needed to do those looking at the replaced parts since they looked brand new
i love and swear by toyota/lexus at this point but just helped a friend get a 00 nissan pathfinder w 131k on it
have seen people that totally abuse cars not be able to kill that engine
would also still buy a honda under the right circumstances but thats pretty much it for me
all these cars pretty much look the same now when it comes to the aerodynamic body styles anyway
i'm going w the toyota compression and detail
making them in america can only ruin it sadly
they allow you to request your car assembled in japan (i didn't know that) and tbh i waited until they found one that was on my 17

You can specifically find a Japanese car manufactured in Japan via the VIN number, and I know people that will only buy cars manufactured in Japan. There is a difference in build quality. But more than that, the important thing is the quality of the engineering that goes into the car prior to mass production. In that space, the Japanese manufacturers still have an advantage. The quality and engineering of each part is that much better.

That being said, certain models are purpose built elsewhere....like the Civic Type R is made in England.

Mercedes tried to build the first generation C class cars in Mexico. It was a freaking disaster and Mercedes' reputation took a drop so steep, they are stop trying to recover.

yeah i just learned that this year but i'm not the guy that usually buys something new
actually a lease on the advice of the accountant
have been witness to a number of businesses that suffered greatly or were knocked out completely by manufacturing in mexico
surprised the germans wouldn't have done some homework on that
won't buy anything the english make and almost divorced over a range rover lol
for years my work was standing in peoples garages talking about cars and i never found a man that loved his wife's range rover

It's king of amazing you would still buy a car with 131,000 miles on it...to an old guy like me. Back in my day, that was an extreme rarity. Now, that kind of clicks on a vehicle doesn't scare a person away at all.
My first car I bought was a Chevy SS with 83,000 miles on it...but it looked real nice. When I drove it home, my father looked at the speedo and asked me if I was crazy...I said I thought it was 38,000. Then he said " now you read numbers backwards"? Never heard of dyslexia back then, but could have played that card if I knew.
Point being, mileage making people pass on a car these days sure has changed for the better. Not sure if it's the same with US made cars, though.
When I had a Volvo P 1800, I went to a club meeting at Pocono Raceway one year. There were two cars there that had a million miles on them...at the time, the only two in the US. One was a Mercedes Benz, the other a P1800. Not US cars.

    Beer as well.
Then again Germans go to all countries and start breweries that become standards of tha new country. Like budweiser here.
Fast forward a few generations and those breweries originally founded by german expats get sold to giant german conglomerates at deals.

This happens with things much more important than cars and beers. And cars and beers are already pretty high on the list. Yet pale ale in comparison.

my kid drove one to LB for years and it was abused and it still sold w over 200k on it
a childhood friend of mine had a 93 pickup that he totally destroyed and yet that engine always started

And that germanic super companies own all the beer brands in the world.
Truth is that we are still living in the crypto germanic old reich from the neander caves .

Hell, I don’t care. As long as they continue to make good lagers and Hefeweizen.

The Czechs actually make a better lager in my opinion. Pilsners are Czech in origin. Budweiser I thought was the original Czech Pilsner that when the German guy who went to the US stole their name.

Oddly enough when the original Budweiser, called Budvar in Czechoslovakia, tried to import their Pilsner in the US, they couldn’t use their own name because Budweiser trademarked it.

So now they import under the name Czechvar.

You couldn’t pay me to drink US Budweiser.

Beer is the drink of the slavs enslaved by the germanics.
Like the northern Romans are Germans and their first slaves the Gaulish tribes in Bohemia.
The neanderthals always try to appropriate the spirits of their slaves.

How about the Pac-12!!! 3 whole teams AND 2 of the 3 including my Bruins have to play in a play in game. I didn't think this conference was this HORRID. Speaking of horrid I agreed with Dicky V today :facepalm:. How can Oklahoma be in and not Oklahoma St when they beat them 2X and beat Kansas 2X while Oklahoma barely finished over .500 in the 2nd half of the season. Clearly they chose star power of logic because of Trae Young.

Battered and somewhat bruised from three days in Sin City. Watched some hoops at the Westgate, the world's biggest sports book. Thanks to a connection, he got hooked up with a private booth. I could learn to watch sports like that 365.

Caught Roger Daltrey Sat. night at the Hard Rock. He's conserving his voice these days, doing only about 75 minutes. Really enjoyed it. Peter Townshend's brother Simon (voice sounds just like brother) played rhythm. Apparently Pete never wanted to do "Going Mobile" live, but Simon and Roger did it just fine.

That's the beauty of driving Ferraris. There's always that little bit of nervous excitement that comes from thinking that every time you leave the garage you might not make it back. :)

never was a huge Who fan but over the years began to appreciate and respect them more and more
Who's Next is a monster album and thats a great song off of it and yet there are many great songs on it
had no idea Pete's brother played and was touring singing his brothers songs thats crazy
i remember watching the 911 tribute thinking Rogers voice was done lol
sure it was cool to watch and the band sounds great even though Daltrey doesn't appear to be much of an asset
i'm finding LA to be overflowing w great cover bands doing absolute justice to these old great bands
many times playing the music w the original energy it was recorded
Simon clearly LOVES playing that music
