So this just happened. I'm in the Bay Area visiting my mom. Have some time to kill and just found a good seat for cheap on seatgeek (thanks diablo, that worked easier than stubhub). Heading to the game now.

Good year for me seeing them in person. I witnessed wins in LA and Sac. Even though this one is mostly meaningless, 100 would be cool and I'd like to go 3-0.

Have to ask and I'm only half-kidding... Could the Oklahoma City Comets beat the Dodgers right now?

I mean, this Gnats team is essentially a minor league team and not even AAA champs.

Maybe the Dodgers could survive ONE of their impact bats being a non-factor - like you said in most games he disappeared last postseason. But I'm really concerned because right now it's him, Freeman, Tucker (still most of the time), Muncy (when they're not playing SF), and the recent cooling-down Teo. If the team struggles to get runners home against bad teams, how are they going to suddenly turn it on against the good ones?

    So sick of him pitching.
Being a .300/55 HR/1.000+ OPS and actually on the field > two-way circus with injuries and drastically reduced offense.

Getting MVPs bores him now. He really really really wants a CYA for his collection.

One thing I didn't mention about my visit to Oracle Park, aka Kevin Elster Field, is that it was Farewell to Krukow day. I still believe and always will that he and Kiper were part of the early movement away from objective game announcers to homer cheerleaders in the booth. I'll acknowledge that he was personable and charismatic, and for that reason the fans love him. But as I've always said, when I'm listening to a radio broadcast of a game, I want to hear an objective account of it, not a biased opinion. For that reason I'm not a fan of the new breed of announcers, Dodgers included, that get excited when their team excels but go monotone when the opponent turns the tables. Anyhow, the Krukow hooplah between almost every inning yesterday was hard for me to witness, but I've got to say, when Andy went bombs away in the tenth, it was extra satisfying, knowing that a Dodger homer tainted the celebration of the Gnats true "homer."

LA was spoiled to have had vin, dick enberg, chick hearn and bob miller
those guys all called the game objectively
today’s broadcasters are meh, and the dodgers are no exception
joe davis seems bored, orel (although knowledgeable) talks too much about nothing and constantly refers to the team as we, jessica is annoying, and karros makes dontrell sound like demosthenes
i don’t listen to the radio broadcasts very often, but i’ve always liked rick monday
    i love charlie steiner’s enthusiasm, but he’s a mess
steven nelson isn’t bad, especially when paired with a worthy analyst/commentator
imo they should go with davis or nelson at the lead, with someone like nomar or monday or even james loney commentating
everyone else should be chained (no racist) to to studio set

For me it's radio more often than TV. I think Monday is great as the color guy and he seems pretty objective. As far as play-by-play, I can't tell you how many times I've been Steinered. I know some have sentimentality for him, but for me, I think it's time for him to hang em up. I believe he only does home games now, anyhow. The other two that do the PBP are Stephen Nelson and Tim Neverett. I don't love the cheerleader stuff but I've come to accept it as it seems all teams employ that kind of announcer now (curse you, Krukow and Kuiper!). So setting those feelings aside, both of these guys are pretty knowledgeable, articulate, and personable - I'm fine with either calling the games.

But how I miss the days of Vin. That mold is definitely broken forever.

note sure what category he falls under, analyst i guess, but jerry hairpiece is the homer of all homers. in addition he looks silly as hell and barely qualifies as a Dodger anyway.

I would have had a hard time sitting through nine innings of Krukow taint licking.

They were probably the pioneers of West Coast homers. San Diego has its' own homer in Mark Grant, aka Kruk Jr.

I think of all of them, for pure voice "baseball quality", Steiner is by far the best. I find the distinct sound he speaks with superior to all the others. Keeping in mind I grew up with Red Barber, Vin Scully and Mel Allen. Allen was a southern Jew who made a boring game sound exciting, even though I hated the Yankees. And Ralph Kiner's slurred words were enjoyable and he was a unique character, whether drunk or becoming increasingly feeble- minded. Never found out which. Maybe both.
The most personality for LA is projected by Dontrelle, imo, even though terms like " the whooper duper" pepper his comments.
I really like Orel, who I believe gives insight none of the others can even think about. Until this year, in which he said a few stupid things, and became at times to me, simply a loyal LA Dodger employee.
Quite honestly, I don't know why " we" is so offensive to so many ( here especially), if that's how someone feels about the organization they work for. In fact, I feel "we" myself.
If you can't root for a team for 71 years and feel " we" about them, wtf ?
I/ he/ they guess pronouns are the thing these days, eh?
