    the other thing is he was leaning ala Fisk out of the box thinking it might be foul so the hit on the roof likely changed the trajectory. impossible to call it out. best would have been foul and he swings again.

    Statcast and analytics say there is no way in hell it would’ve been. My eye test thinks it would’ve been foul and in the stands by 10 plus feet.

    Fuck it. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving team, unless it was the Giants (goes without saying). Just wish it would have happened with Dumbo or Tittis at the plate.

    No sympathy for SD fans ... but a small voice in my heart wept aloud for 5 seconds as I felt badly for France.

    First, because he lost a potential game-winning dinger to a freakish twist of physics

    Then, because his name is France! I feel badly that his parents were such a-holes.

    yeah the geeks have debunked it as a fly ball that possibly could have been to the wall on the right day. watching France's body language from the get he thought it was foul. the angle of the ball flight was going foul and the roof hit dropped it straight down into play. one of the shots looks like it possibly had distance. possibly. rules say its an out. a lot of baseball fans out there (and here) apparently feel it should be a HR on sight alone. weird play but the rules are there. i agree a rule change that calls that type of ball dead would be fair. take another swing champ but SD didn't get ripped off by any stretch. no gray area.
    btw tatis and machado are big mouth fags w no game when its all on the line. both of them looked that they wanted to run and hide in the bright lights. no more cigar smoking swag guys?

    thought it could have been an HR with the naked eye, but if the stat guys say no i’m good
    would have been pissed off if that happened to us, but since it was the padres lmao

    here’s the thing… both teams managers have the ground rules explained before every game/series, and probably 100x greater during the postseason
    SD can be disappointed but they have exactly zero reason to complain
    i thought if replay had ruled it a foul ball it would have almost been a fair deal, but again fuck the padres

    side note: our TV took a dump on Friday so had to watch the games on my laptop
