I'm not sure how many DSP guys are sailing fans other that myself and N.Z. but this has been one hell of a racing series. Unlike prior America's Cup races on regular sailboats this one has had Formula 1 applied to it and the sailors are in helmets with flak jackets on 72 foot catamarans with wing sails and lift up on hydrofoils that scream across the water at over 45 kts (50 MPH).

The Kiwi's ruled the SF Bay waters for the first 9 races leading 8-1 and only needing win once more to take the Cup back to New Zealand. That last victory has proved elusive and yesterday our boys won two in a row to tie the series at 8-8.

And the chase boats have 4 outboards just to keep up with the sailboats!

Today, weather permitting, will be winner take all for the Cup.

I've been following the America's Cup too.
    Amazing technology in these boats.

And I like that there's real threat to life and limb for the participants.

Love that in a best of 17 series, it has come down to one race.

Sorry N.Z. but the cup stays in the States...

Dean Barker is now a skipper who has lost the Cup 3 times and is the first to lose after being ahead 8-1

Good day to be a Kleenex (or liquor) salesman in New Zealand...

LOL, sailboats, horse racing, bike racing. God invented engines for a reason.

    "God invented engines" LOL

Buddy slicing along the water at more than 50 MPH in a sailboat on hydrofoils is freakishly fast.

Its all good though... you don't have to get it...

I'm sure it is, but not as fun as riding a race horse I bet. Still, God's engine creation makes everything better. :p

But hey, take me out on your 50mph sailboat and convince me man. I'm not sure how the fuck a sailboat could go that fast without a 50mph wind...or can they?

They go 50mph in 25mph winds.

It really is amazing technology. It's like that pythagorean theorem and shit.

And 7-10 kts in a sailboat seems fast. Really.
