I'll admit that even though I obviously want to win every game, a loss would make me feel better knowing that it increases the chances of the Brewers overtaking the Cubs, DBacka, or Rockies. Fuck those teams and the Brewers are cool to me.
I think, for whatever reason(s), the Brewers will play us tough. They have generally, better pitching than we have gone up against lately, and at times, the guys we did face recently, we were shut down almost completely. Of course, the lineup is a dice throw, and I can't imagine Dave getting too adventurous...makes little sense. I guess Farmer has fallen put of favor?
Don't know why Font is on this list, even though I think it'll be cool, he's not on the 40 man roster but Castillo is though. I know they can make the roster thing work with a DL stint or a DFA but for 1 start and a 20 game lead why bother. This series is going to kill me because I WANT to see the Brew crew overtake those fucking Cubs but I also want to win. I hate it.
The goal of every game for this series... Be winning by 6 runs entering the 9th, then intentionally walk 11 straight batters, then swing through pitches on purpose in the bottom half of the inning. In all truth though, I think the Brewers are in trouble come Monday.
I want to sweep the Brewers. Rooting for the Brewers is overthinking it. They have a better chance of winning their division than winning the WC; so if you think they are the weakest potential playoff team, then them sneaking in means the Nationals get an easier NLDS opponent, not us. As far as them beating out the DBacks, while I think the DBacks are good, fuck the DBacks for jerking off all over themselves after beating us in that one game with the Lamb HR. I would actually love the DBacks in the NLDS so they can see how far they really are behind us. Bottomline. Win. Win everything. Demoralize the NL.
Yeah, Milwaukee winning the division could be a disaster for us. Cubs could end up with a WC spot and our path turns into Chicago-Washington to make the WS instead of just 1 of them. Let those two beat the fuck out of each other while we hopefully take care of business vs AZ/Col/Milwaukee who on paper are much easier than the Cubs imo.
well said mousey and my sentiments as well rest assured, other teams are fearing [playing] us we should fear no one just keep winning series' and let those other fucks fight it out
Yep, if the Cubs are the team you are most worried about, then you should root for them to win their division above anything else. And to help them we can beat up on Milwaukee. After that the WC just is what it is. We shouldn't really fear anyone.
I don't think the Cubs are going to give up their division as they are on too much of a roll and their schedule is legit shit the rest of the way. The Brewers going to the WC would be the most ideal situation and it is very much in the realm of possibility. They don't have the pitching to carry them in a 7 game, let alone 5 game series. They DO have a pitcher that could win them one game and that is who we are seeing tonight. I fucking hate the idea of a series against the D'Backs or Rockies just cause in those ballparks, anything can fucking happen. Yes, tear up everyone along the way, but it would be nice to have a series against a team like the Brewers first where we aren't taxing our bullpen to get to the NLCS like we probably would have to do in CO or AZ.
interesting interview with grundle http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/a-clandestine-operation-with-yasmani-grandal/
Huh, that is interesting. I wonder if his recent power might be attributed to better health for his hand?
I was just about to say the same thing. I wonder if the injury happened around the time that McCarthy imploded. It wasn't just with McCarthy where he was struggling to receive pitches, it was over a rough stretch of a couple weeks and McCarthy felt the brunt of it. Fuck, if he could finally be healthy for the playoffs.......
I'd also like to add in regards to the Rockies, this town does not deserve a playoff team. The whole place is already focused on the Broncos and the local sports beats/news orgs only talk about the team when they lose. The fucking donkey's are going to be lucky to be a .500 team, but yeah, let's only talk about those guys.
If we play the Brewers we will probably play at 11 AM every game. Even at home. Lol. But yes. That's my preferred NLDS opponent
I don't have the same faith in the Cubs. Truth is Milwaukee's schedule isn't much tougher (outside of a series with us and the Nats, and since we are talking about us rolling over against them then it's really just the Nats), and St Louis might have the easiest schedule of the three. Lots of head-to-head games for all of them too. So I'm thinking "Be careful what you wish for", because if Milwaukee holds their own against us then we are a Brewers hot streak away from facing the Cubs in the NLDS. Personally, I don't care much. I'm confident as fuck against any opponent, except maybe Atlanta. I'd rather not play in Colorado, Arizona doesn't worry me as much since we handle ourselves well there (plus we almost have home field with the fans). It's a max of 2 games away, so the bullpen shouldn't get too taxed, not to mention Milwaukee can be a launching pad as well (Shawn Green likes this). I guess I'm just not as worried as all you all . We should fear no one, at the same time everyone is dangerous.
