brain dead decisions by the front office playing bullpen roulette and sending down better relievers and trading for and keeping up worse relievers. just completely fucking stupid
Some good fortune for our boys last night. A handful of at 'em balls in key situations. The front office's record picking up dumpster dive relievers has been pretty good. But I don't get sending down Feyereisen at all. All he did was get outs.l
It seems then that bunting ITSELF needs to change form since fast balls are so much more dangerous. Instead of "squaring up" on the pitch & "catching the ball with the bat" as we all were taught to do, learn to effectively drag bunt high-end fastballs. Hold the bat at the end and stick it over the plate and train guys on 95 mph pitches until they can put those balls 20 feet down the 3B\1B line regularly. I know .... easy to say but hard to do. But as the game has advanced, so should technique. True that measuring tape blasts fill seats. But so do WS titles. Howsa bout LA teach a few guys to bunt in a new way in .... Whatcha call that thing? Oh yeah..... Spring training!
The thing that bothers me the most is that it used to be a huge part of our manager’s game back when he played. Roberts brings zero value to the team, and yet in the one area where he could actually teach the players something invaluable, he chooses to keep it to himself. What kind of a leader does that?
Good luck getting 95% of today's players to bunt. Not happening and it has nothing to do with Roberts.
You may be right. Even when the shift was allowed and they'd have an automatic hit as long as they got it past the pitcher, few would try.
