Love is a strong word, but I say it confidently. I lived in SD for two years, and if it wasn't for pesky stuff like family and jobs I'd move back in a heartbeat. I'm not saying that to diss on LA/OC in the slightest, I love it here too, this is home.
Lots of nice places in SoCal all of which beat NorCal. At least TB was only claiming north OC which is racist enough but south county is a zoo of its own. Too much wealth attracting too much beauty and the Jones gave up and moved to Riverside. Lived in Monterey Park for HS - sucks mostly but tri cultural made it interesting. No longer. Now known as Mandarin Park Alhambra- sucks more Chatsworth - cool mostly because of the Chatsworth Park mountains and you're at the edge of the SF 'Valley' nonsense Northridge - ugg middle of the SF valley Glendora - not bad out by Rube, quieter near the foothills Thousand Oaks - quiet semi rural back then Mission Viejo - home of south county gay white Olympians and friendly racists, living on an awesome quiet cul de sac surrounded Mexicans, Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese and Persians who all love the white bread life of South County. My neighbor Arturo laughs at his north county latino church friends coming to visit his 'white boy' house in the 'burbs. Too bad. There is actually lots of diversity in this white bread corner of the world but they're here because they all want whats here. Calm white crime free living. Totally racist but truth Lived in SD near univerisity district as a kid, it was cool Wife's clan have a place in Pacific Beach, talk about a zoo, but its always lively.
Long Beach born and lived in Los Alamitos until I was eight. Lived not far from one of my favorite restaurants, the Fish Company.
