    Oh, I agree. To a point.

    I would rather have a player who may not generate the same excellent year-end bottom line as Grandal, but instead consistently provides slightly above average offense with great defense every single day.
    That's not what we're getting.
    I would not rather have Barnes or Martin than Grandal.
    No way.

    I tricked myself early in the year into thinking that Barnes would be a consistent contact bat that would relieve us from Yasmani's epic slumps, but that didn't happen.

    I never expected Barnes, Martin, or anyone else to put up Grandal's 5 WAR.
    But I did expect the trade off to at least be some consistency.

    Boston buried the Dodgers with shitty offensive catchers. Barnes just needs to catch the damn ball and they'll be OK. At least at catcher. Still ultimately going to lose in the post

    do not miss those passed balls
    or the dropped balls at the plate
    easy to forget how frustrating his lack of function on defense was
    i can deal w the barnes lack of offense better when he's playing his position well
    fresh prince is coming but obviously they think barnes can come around

    I would have rather had Joc face the lefty with 2 outs and nobody on base than have Kike potentially face a right-hander later in this game with runners on.
