The Arenado thing is still very weird to me. He knows that his contract hamstrings that org a decent bit and he has repeatedly bad mouthed them in the local media. I honestly think it had a lot to do with the fact that for the second straight year, he was dealing with some shoulder issues down the stretch and maybe he was worried he’d be putting a deal like that at risk. It was apparently well known in baseball circles that the Dodgers were gonna throw a massive offer his way this year(Olney said that he’s the reason the club was getting under the tax). It also should be said that the Rockies did not offer him some discount contract, they definitely paid up. We will see how it all works out, but Arenado is notoriously vocal about shitty play around him, so his part of that contract in Colorado could be short.

But, the last 3 years theyve tried to win a World Series and not win a trade with the deadline trades and it still didn’t matter because our stars didn’t play like stars. It’s annoying they didn’t make a trade don’t get me wrong but it’s the first year since like 2015 they didn’t make the biggest deadline splash of any team. Tons of players just didn’t get moved this year, which is the more annoying part. If Vázquez, Giles, Colome, Noah, Wheeler, Diaz, would’ve gotten traded and we DIDNT get them, that would’ve sucked. But the best reliever traded was uh, Shane Greene? Best starter was Greinke who had the Dodgers on his no trade list . I mean i guess we could’ve traded Will smith or Dustin May for Shane Greene or something but idk, that might not even make us better in 2019 let alone 2020

I think without a doubt what this deadline did was point out how big a fuck up from the owners and FO it was to not just spend money on our problem in the off-season. Joe Kelly and AJ pollock being the big free agent signings is a huge season ending fuck up. They should’ve spent more money on relievers this offseason. There were plenty of good relievers available. That’s the big shitty fuck up that would’ve cost only money but the owners and FO are cheap as hell

Good points, but I gotta go with Verlander over Davish, every time, and twice on Sunday.
Maybe I'm misremembering ( Hillary says that's a word), but Darvsh doesn't trump Verlander...
What might have been if we had really gotten the best out there when he was ?
