@DodgersTailgate US prosecutors are investigating Dodgers owner Mark Walter’s empire for possible financial improprieties at Guggenheim Partners LLC and two insurers, Delaware Life and Clear Spring Life, according to @business. Federal authorities in Manhattan began probing last year, with the insurers subpoenaed in February over undisclosed private credit ties.
@JoePompliano There is clearly some smoke to the Mark Walter investigation. After previously claiming that just $1.4 billion of the assets at his life insurance company were loaned out to businesses he controlled, Walter has since revised that number to $21 billion. That's why he sold the Lakers and might have to sell other assets too. @ArashMarkazi This is why the Dodgers and Sparks could be sold as well. As much as I'd hate the Dodgers having Clippers cross promotions, if Walter has to sell the Dodgers, Steve Balmer might be the best option to purchase the team He's clearly spared no expense with the Clippers – built world class arena and paid, at least, Kawhi underneath the table to skirt salary cap In baseball, he wouldn't have to skirt the salary cap, he could just pay whatever he wanted
