@DodgersNation Freddie Freeman continues to battle right knee tendinitis and will not be in the Dodgers lineup today for their series opener vs the Reds. Freeman is working through a 1-26 slump at the plate right now. dodgers making the same mistake with freddie as they did with shohei FF should have been put on the IL the same day as ohtani and tibbs should be here getting at bats
Yeah, really, but you know this will come out in the press as praise for him. "Due to Manager Dave Roberts' expert lineup management as he navigated through late season injuries to star players Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers were able to clinch the NL West division."
They can and should still do that. As a 2 way player, Ohtani had to go on the 15 day IL. FF would only need 10 days. I wish they would stop screwing around with him and just let him heal. And while I doubt they put Tibbs on the 40-man at this point and lose the potential for him to be able to play minor league games next year if there's a major league lockout, I would rather even have Ward up and filling in at 1B while Freddie recovers.
So here's an idea. Let's give Freddie a start today. If the knee re-aggravates, he can sit for a game or two, then let's try him again. If it re-agravates, he can sit for another game or two, then let's try him again. If it re-agravates, he can sit for another game or two, then let's try him again. This is very worrisome. Freeman hasn't had an RBI since September 2. Over the last 9 games that he's played, he has zero RBIs. Know how many runners he's left on base during that stretch? Thirty two. On average around 3.5 a game. Thirty two runners ready to be knocked in. He left every single one of them stranded. Why isn't he healing on the IL??? We NEED him healthy in October.
Everyone sees it. Except the guy who is now being touted as " the best mgr. in bb". If you have to lick his taint, or are told to by higher- ups and play him, do you have bat him third ? You cant move him down a couple? That's what you get paid for. I don't believe the guy is that selfish. He can't field that well anymore either.
Freddie's LOB's were not damaging against the Gnats (12 more in the 3 games), but it's going to hurt the team if he continues that in this Pudres series. He made solid contact a couple times that just happened to find leather which is a good sign. I just hope that's not the old blind squirrel finding a nut thing. Still think he should have been given a 10-game rest session. Dodgers need him in the playoffs and an IL stint is no longer an option. Fingers crossed.
couldn't find where we were talking about JDP taking over for FF but it appears a lot of others are thinking it as well. the current Freeman erosion rate is a bit of a surprise. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/articles/dodgers-could-freddie-freeman-succession-044907002.html
Freddie looked good on Tuesday, then yesterday stranded 6 more to add to his huge LOB number over the past month. He has 4 more games to figure it out. Not gonna lie, I'm concerned about the playoffs, especially if he keeps battling in a prime RBI spot. Going forward, Dodgers need to strongly consider making JDP a first baseman. Solves multiple issues.
Is it the knee or old age? Or both? Or is home life beckoning? The conversion to 1B is easier said than done. There's obviously a lot more to the position than catching throws from the other infielders. I would have more faith that he could develop into an adequate LF. Either way they've got to find a spot for his bat.
Agreed, but many players have successfully made that conversion, and he's young enough where it should be doable.
