@DMAC_LA Here is Josue De Paula playing LF a few weeks ago in Double-A. How could the Dodgers be so good at player development and let it get this bad? Either the coaches dropped the ball or JDP didn't put in the work or both. Which is it? Maybe he's truly a 1B/DH (VIDEO) deer in the fucken headlights terrible job by the organization not addressing this sooner the “there’s always a place for a guy that can hit” saying doesn’t apply when you’ve already got someone who can’t/won’t play defense at DH
This is the one video that pops up every time there's a tweet on how bad he is in left. It's ugly and his defense looks really bad based on that play. But it is just one play, and I've seen others where he makes difficult catches, so it's probably not a completely fair representation. I think if he's intent on getting better, he will, and in the end could be an adequate fielder. Still would like that same effort go in to see if he can become good enough at 1B. Just opens more options for the Dodgers, and in the long run he may prefer to be in the infield.
thing is FF the way he is still has a lot to offer at this point in his career. better than 70% of first basemen out there probably. will he feel the same about it? or is he dug in on playing a couple of more years? i think its the knee and it steals his power and balance. doesn't look like anything else is bothering him but father time appears to have come for him unfortunately.
this exactly his balance is terrible (probably from compensating from injuries) and he’s unable to drive the ball consistently JDP at 1B worries me because even if he’s adequate, it will be a huge drop off defensively from freddie 1B might not be the toughest position to play, but freddie has truly mastered the position and has saved LAD pitchers countless baserunners/runs would not be at all surprised if freddie returned to form in 2027
@Klein25 Freddie Freeman 1st Half: .290/.375/.487 15 HRs | 49 RBIs | 52 Rs | 138 wRC+ 2nd Half: .291/.349/.347 1 HR | 21 RBIs | 22 Rs | 94 wRC+ Sizable drop in power.
@BlakeHHarris Freddie Freeman’s last 63 games: 265 plate appearances 1 home run 10 doubles That just seems impossible to believe
