Definitely missed Javale yesterday, LAL's 2nd best player this year, seriously. He has a 22 PER, good for 2nd on the team and of course his defensive presence has been valuable as well. I don't know where Hart's talent has gone, but KCP has been outplaying him for about 2-3 weeks now. KCP's PER has eclipsed Hart's, also leads Hart in win shares. If Lance can just focus a tad more, Hart may be deemed expendable pretty soon, it's not like Hart's established himself as this long time reliable vet shooter or performer. I like Hart, but Lance has had some memorable playoff performances and is still fairly young himself. I could see LAL talking themselves into feeling like they have it covered without Hart. Never would've thought I'd be cool with trading both KCP and Hart, but I'd send them both out in the deal for AD and sleep OK, KCP purely for salary purposes. Zo could play some SG when Rondo returns, and Lance gives them another strong backcourt guy that can switch onto frontcourt guys defensively and hold up, which is probably Hart's best quality defensively. Svi's been able to switch and defend some frontcourt guys as well, so keep him around to lessen the blow of losing Hart. If I'm Magic, Hart is now on the table for the Pels since he's sort of established as an asset..although, for Magic, Hart's probably always been on the table. Lakers have to be very careful about how they move here, though, because they look plenty capable of being the 2nd or 3rd seed right now without any moves.

The Suns were willing to dance with the Lakers, but only on their terms. After the first Ariza trade fell apart, the Lakers hopped back in by offering Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and a future second-round pick, league sources say. The Suns demanded a young player instead of the pick. That player is believed to be Josh Hart. The Lakers obviously refused; Hart is 10 years younger and has been better than Ariza this season.

All of the talk about a Bradley Beal trade, or Beal as an option in the offseason if things don't go according to plan. I'm not so sure I wouldn't rather go after Zach Lavine offering up Ingram and Hart, and have that be the fallback plan. Beal and Lavine are pretty comparable, Beal obviously a bit more established and of course he has playoff experience, but Lavine's upside looks to be at least a shade better and he's a couple years younger than Beal, but also 2-3 years older than Ingram. If they somehow end up in a scenario where it's Beal or younger expensive options like Lavine/Aaron Gordon, and none of these guys are going to put LAL over the top, I'd take the younger talent and just hope he eventually reaches the level. Probably not the most LeBron-friendly plan, but not waving the white flag either. But Lavine plays with more swagger and has more dog in him from what I've seen ( in comp to Ingram), at least to this point. Lavine is also an 87% free throw shooter and obviously we could use that. Not necessarily sure if Lavine will be better than Ingram long term, but Lavine has been getting the 3 ball up at a solid clip for years now and brings some of the other things that Ingram brings as well like playmaking. He is a better fit with LeBron, at least offensively. And until Ingram gets stronger and is able to hold up when switching onto bigger guys, he has no advantage there over Lavine. Neither can get it done in that aspect. Don't know that Chicago would even consider it, but Ingram's much cheaper and if they can get their hands on a couple other assets as well, maybe. Lavine was the 13th overall pick like Kobe, also a slam dunk contest champion like Kobe..who we also traded for. Their arcs are actually sort of similar, of course, not that Lavine is about to become Kobe.
Yeah except for the 6'5" vs 6'9" difference which is a HUGE difference. Otherwise we agree that Brandon needs to do some pushups in a big way Also comparing a 1/2 to a 2/3 is not realistic. I'd prefer to keep homegrown Ingram but would send him to LA for some cajun food fattening him up
If Ingram's length were able to make up for getting folded and moved like furniture the difference would be huge, but the numbers say what they say. To the former, don't box yourself in like that. Ingram is a 1/2/3 and sometimes 4. To the latter, Zo put on muscle mass in one offseason..Ingram is still looking for it. Some guys just don't have the build to put on weight, but Ingram can still get stronger
Don’t use PER. Or win shares. Both are terrible metrics and outdated. Instead you want to use impact metrics such as RPM, RAPM, or PIPM. Or efficiency stats such as CPOE and the various ones listed at Nylon calculus. The predictive power of these metrics are substantially better than PER or Win shares.
