    Well aware. My late father spoke of that game with venom in his words.

    He didn't hold anything against Dressen, Branca, or even Bobby Thomson, or any one person. He blamed that whole Dodger team for flopping in September.

    I wasn't alive but I know it too well. The HBO documentary on it was exceptional.

    remember how this losing streak started? i know you do. the fool gets bailed out again and again. this Cubs team is good especially the D. dumbfuck baserunning is going to be exposed.

    And to think I was feeling good about things at 3-0 after I wondering wtf Edman was doing hitting third.

    Four HRs allowed and seven walks later thing went to total shit.

    Wrobo throwing BP, Henriquez walking the bags full and Scott walking one home after getting ahead 0-2. Maybe skipping a start might give Wrobo a needed break.

    Sho morphing into Pages on the bases. Teo showing signs of life (ball was demolished).

    Why would Cub fans boo Tucker?

    Seems every team the Dodgers play lately is making Gold Glove plays right and left.

    My old bastige memory recalls that "east coast swing" road trips in August have undone this team in its distant & not-so-distant past.

    This month ends with LA playing 6 games in Atl & Det. They'd best square their shit away well before then. Or else.

    It may be only my take, but to me, seeing younger teams playing playing much sounder foundational baseball than the ageing Dodgers. Like as plain as the nose on your face. And the bs that "teams get up when they play the Dodgers" is like, imo, a laughable excuse. Did teams get up when they played the Yankees back when ? Or the Braves when they won division for over a decade ? But it didn't matter...because they weren't overated teams...they were clearly the best. Managed that way. You didn't hear Bobby Cox or Sparky Anderson saying" you can't expect to win them all", even though we all knew it to be true.
    Let's face it...the Dodgers, aside from heroic turns by guys like Yamamoto and FF, were very close to not winning 2 WS in a row. They had some luck, and got dumbfuck help from the other teams.
    And this year...they look like the dumbfucks.
    They really do. And they've got the perfect guy in control of pushing those buttons...

    I try to keep an even-keel as a fan. I know there will be highs and lows over the course of a season, and unless it's the playoffs, things are never as rosy as it seems when everything is going right, and never as bleak as it seems when everything is going wrong.

    That said, I usually fail to remain unbothered. Davey's complacency trickles down through the players, and that really irks me. Just speculation here, but I'd bet, to a degree, that Roberts is buying into the hype that with Skubal, Dodgers have an easy path to the three-peat. The rest of the team picks up on that, and the result is having their ass handed to them. They're absolutely playing like an old, over-the-hill club. One of the supposed benefits of signing Tucker was that he was going to infuse some youth into the team. Instead, he's had the opposite effect, making the Dodgers a more aged team -- not on paper, but on the field. Mookie is also playing like he's 40. We knew his contract would hurt a little the last few years -- I just didn't expect that to happen so early. Muncy is probably our best hitter right now, outside of Shohei (definitely more clutch than Shohei), but for some asinine reason Roberts continues to bench him against lefties, even though the numbers suggest that's weakening the lineup. Pages is having a good season but shouldn't be in the 2-hole, but then again, who else could it be? Actually if it were me, I'd bat Edman leadoff and Ohtani second, but Roberts won't do that. If Tucker or Betts weren't broken links in the lineup, they'd be filling that role, but neither can do that the way they're playing. Teo has his spurts, but age has caught up with him as well. And then we can't overlook the injuries at catcher - nothing you can do about that - but they've also seriously hampered this offense. Hopefully Feduccia and Ben can produce some until the other guys return.

    There are plenty of excuses for this slump... some legitimate, but in my book, it all starts with the manager.

    Would've been hilarious if Davey had started his throwaway game lineup in Skubal's debut. I remember he did that often in Kershaw's starts, I suppose thinking that he could rest guys as if they weren't needed.
