Edwin Diaz is absolute trash. He was hesitating to throw his slider and it was obvious why. Because he can't get his slider to fucking slide. He had NO FUCKING BUSINESS BEING IN THAT GAME AND SHOULD NOT PITCH IN ANY FUCKING LEVERAGE UNTIL HE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO THROW THAT MOTHERFUCKING SLIDER

 

look at diaz's career. Aleternates good seasons with shit ones. Last year was good. So.....

 

he alternates elite seasons with above average ones. His only bad year before now was 2019

 

A lot to unpack from this latest pile of fecal matter.

Diaz is given the bottom of the order to close it out. Walks Kepler after getting ahead 1-2. Ks Dodger killer Tawa. His slider is trash. Fastball looks pretty good. Hangs a batting practice slider to the #9 hitter who hits his second career HR to walk it off.

Scott struggled to finish the 8th after getting two easy outs to open the inning. Not exactly closer stuff. A 4 pitch walk mixed in there.

Another quality effort from Roki. He was clearly winded after fielding the comebacker and sprinting to first for the out. Not sure why he didn't flip it to Freddie. Wish he would have taken a little time to gather himself. First pitch after that was the fastball in the heart of the plate to Arenado which he hit out. With a chance to grab a breath, he fanned the next hitter Kepler on three great pitches.

Challenges again an issue. Not sure what the fuck Edman was thinking. Same could be said about him getting picked off. Obviously it wasn't all bad for Edman. He was robbed of a HR by Carroll in third and came through with the clutch game tying single in the 7th.

Some shitty ABs in clutch situations. In the 6th Freddie saw four pitches with the bases loaded, all out of the zone. He grounded into a force play to bring in the first run. Muncy followed with a K out of the zone. In the 7th Teo pops up on the first pitch with two on. After Rojas singles to load the bases Shohei bangs into the double play.

Good night for Pages. Obviously the go ahead bomb, but also a quality AB to draw a walk to load the bases in the 6th.

 

With Snell and Glasnow (not holding my breath) returning to the rotation is it time to revisit the Roki to the pen discussion now that he's settled down?
