Our long national nightmare is finally over, at least for a day.

Calling this one a grind is understatement. Pitchers got out when they had to, holding Arizona to 2-16 with RISP.

Yamamoto navigated 5.2 with 107 pitches without his best command. Phillips and Scott got important single outs. Vesia (again) struggled with the strike zone, but struck out the Dbacks' hottest hitter (Moreno) to close out the 7th. Our Fidel Castro look alike has a knack for escaping that type of jam. Hurt had to be bailed out again after loading the bases after getting the first two outs. Not easy to give up back to back triples, but Diaz did it. Very lucky when Moreno's 106 mph rope found Muncy's glove. Grudgingly have to give Diaz some credit for bearing down to get the final two outs in 9th. Good work by Dreyer to wiggle his way out of the 10th with the textbook 1-4-3 double play.

Second night in a row they were totally shut down by an Arizona starting pitcher. Dodgers just managed two infield hits in 7 innings vs. Pfaadt, both by Pages. They get Arizona's best in Rodriguez today. More futility lies ahead.

Pretty sorry ass when your best consistent swings came from your backup catcher (Feduccia). 3-4-5 (Freddie, Mookie, Muncy) went 0-10. Two terrible ABs by Sho and Pages in the 8th. Credit to the Chinless One for running into one.

 

I got up, thoroughly disgusted after Carroll's triple with Perdomo scoring. Watching failure after failure, along with "the best team in baseball"descriptive phrasing which we hear quite often, can get very very wearing...like some kind of relentless blood- sucking drone. Painful, man.
So I got into bed and read, always a port in any kind of weather.
. This morning, really gobsmacked Carroll didn't score and LA went on to win, I watched the recap of the ninth and tenth inning. Diaz stepped in shit when Moreno clocked that screamer at Muncy. Good thing it wasn't a foot to the right or left, as his range is even less than Betts' is...
Imo, more importantly, it was a change of luck, which has sucked recently, along with the performance from a majority of the roster. This is even more important than a clocked line drive at someone, a bobble by the first baseman in the 10th on a routine Ohtani bouncer...or maybe they happen because of luck. Idk.
Whatever.
Now hopefully, they've paid their dues.

I'd be happy just seeing Mookie in the bottom third or Ohtani at the 2-spot.

I just find it so difficult to understand how people look at Betts and think he is what he used to be.
He is not a capable hitter at all anymore, mostly popping up with can o corn little fly balls or bouncers easily caught by the IF.
His highly touted and lionized ss play, imo, is OK, but just OK. His range is suspect in my opinion. Not as good as many others in MLB. And sometimes like I just saw, his arm flat out sucks.And love the 6 more years he's got, too.
