    well i for one am glad we didn't score since two of our best shots at putting the ball in play are now out of the game. although its been a long while since Max did anything of consequence.

    In the Central Time Zone on business. After watching them fall behind 10-3 and Freddie fouling off two BP pitches before taking one right down the middle I said fuck it.

    Starting pitching was bound to take a dump at some point. Lauer reverting to his early season Toronto form.

    Home field advantage too but when they out-homer us 5-0 it doesn't seem to matter. Besides, Tucker's at his worst at DS.

    And is it just me, or does it seem whenever Yama pitches we need a complete game because the pen was just fried?

    It's so unsatisfying and unappealing to be a fan right now. I guess I set my expectations too high. Really was hoping for the 3peat, to be one of only five teams in the history of baseball to do that. If they were able to accomplish that, I'd have been content. I know I'm spoiled with the b2b and 3 in 6 years, but hey, the opportunity for a 3peat just sounded incredible. If my expectations had been set lower, I'd be cool with the division lead and adding to the consecutive playoff years streak and then whatever happens, happens. After all, I knew each year the core would get older and at some point we'd have to pay the piper for all the long-term contracts -- just seems to have come one year too soon. The bad road trip was one thing, but if this team still had its edge it would have dominated a much lesser opponent yesterday to open the home stand with a statement. Now one of three in this series looks likely and then what? Back our way into the playoffs and get pounded in the wildcard play-in, or if we're lucky to get past that then in the NLDS. I just think that with a stronger manager they could have eked by for one more ring, but that's not to be. And then yeah, I think the front office is lying to themselves thinking they could get by without having to start the clock on any young blood. Just to provide a spark, like diablo said -- they wouldn't have necessarily had to bench Teo or Tucker permanently. Maybe a young bat getting a key hit or two would've lit a fire under them, but oh well, wishful thinking.

    But always into books on animals. Right now into a really excellent one on dogs from the first canids on down to what they are now. Domesticus. Fascinating.

    if that lineup was playing at 50% of what they were previous years its absolutely lethal. w everyone struggling you'd imagine someone might try bunting for a hit? blohei was doing it his first year w the team. used to be a part of his game. davey even lauded it as "a guy who knows how to play the game". guess if you play for the Dodgers the analytic Gods don't allow this type of nonsense. hell w that. take another hack at a 400' shot. the fuck w baserunners.
