Disappointing to see Sheehan come apart at the seams after giving up the HR. He had thrown so well the first five innings. Maybe as well as he's pitched all year. Gas Can Jack needs an OKC vacation. He's gone from dependable to deplorable.

Nice to see the corpse of Mookie rise from the dead at the plate. Hopefully a trend and not a one off.

 

Solid start, Lauer. Groove one to a dead-fastball hitter.

 

Freddie Freeman sees 5 pitches in a row piped in the center of the plate and he fouls off 4 of them before weakly flying out the other way.

Santiago Espinal being DFAd for Edman

 

wasn't liking speculation on Freeland going down w this move. as the pressure rises Kyle seems to improve. sort of the anti Espinal.

 

A win for The Chin (or chinless). Game tying three run HR, single and cut down another run at the plate with an on the money throw. Slater (former Giant butt plug) almost interfered with the play at the plate clearing the bat away. Only other time I've seen anything like that was Dusty's kid in Series.

Another big moment for Rojas. Seems to have the knack. Mookie swinging it better and continuing to make great plays in the field (6-3 DP in the 6th and the first out of the 9th).

Shaky start for Lauer (another HR given up), but gave them six innings and limited the Rays to three runs.

Boys in the pen stepped up. Bounce back game for Hurt. Was surprised he was used in that situation. Inning ending K of Caminero was big. Klein and Vesia cleaned up the 8th and Scott got through the 9th with some help from the home plate umpire and Mookie. By rights Scott should have walked the #9 hitter. Would have faced Diaz representing the go ahead run.

Diaz and Caminero look like NFL defensive ends. They're massive. Would recommend avoiding a bench clearing brawl with the Rays.

 

I think Dustin will have a good career, whoever it winds up being with.

Yeah...Freeland lives to fight another day !
But really...Espinal did his job, and he did it well. Hope he's available if we need him again, but I've gotta believe somebody else wants a dude like that.
