But I didn't do it. And that was it. That's basically most brawls, for outfielders anyway. By the time you get there, it's over, so you just ran and got tired. Being in the outfield during a brawl is equivalent to getting to a little kid showing up to a birthday party late. It's like you coming in all excited - they already wet and they eating cake. 'Dang, mom.' … Let's just play baseball and not fight."

 

It gets me so mad that it’s super clear how Baez could be good as long as he isn’t a set up man or closer. He legit does good when it’s the 5th or 6th inning, we’re losing, or maybe extra innings and tied. Essentially When the pressure is low. It’s annoying that that’s the case, but it’s true, and you can actually find use in him to pitch those innings, keep you in games, and save your other pitchers for tight spots

 

i actually feel the same about ferguson and floro who, really, just had bad outings and have (otherwise) been very good

 

and smart players dumb it down to fit in with their less intelligent/educated peers
non-baseball, but i remember when tiger [fresh out of stanford] first burst onto the scene...
in his interviews he would always say "i played well", "i hit the ball well", "i did well"
a couple years later it changed to... "i played good", "i hit the ball good", "i did good"
my parents were both writers and my gf is an english major, so maybe it's just me...
but that kind of shit really hits a nerve

 

Dumbing yourself down is always the best policy when it comes to speech.
The more common your speech the better.
I had no problems with how McCutcheon speaks. I think its great.
When I was younger I was a little like Tiger and I had to learn better.
I think it started when I began accepting my name as rube, really did the whole mountain man thing, and started saying yall all the time.
