    Man, this bullpen sucks.
Roberts had to mess wih it, and of course, in doing so, called the wrong number.
    And fuck HR Kelly, too.

Yeah, it's about time for that. 8 for 51 is not leadoff stuff. Comes up a lot wirh risp, but it's moon swing or nothing lately.
Wonder if anybody has the balls to tell him...you'd think so, for what he earns.
    Just my tuppence

Second strong outing in a row for Kershaw against a quality opponent (Brewers and Phils).

Might sound strange, but I was more impressed with Mookie's RBI single than the HR. Great AB to drive home the insurance run.

Deport Mariachi Joe. A lot more bad than good from him this year.

Addendum to Mookie's night.........great play holding Chourio to a single on ball that hit the RF fence on the fly.

Imagine if Smith was anything like he was earlier in the season ?
A wicked first five...then Lux ( or Muncy, one day), then whoever at 8,9 is formidable.

Now that Mookie is back, it closes DEI Dave's window of opportunity to try out Kiermaier at cleanup. You know he thought about it.

    That would be nice.

It's too bad, that anybody with eyes can see Smith needs to be splitting time with Barnes 50-50 right now. Not because Barnes is going to be more productive, but Smith clearly can not handle a 162 game season. You do something like that and hope Smith comes back to form a bit in time for the post-season run.

This dumb fuck manager could never make that happen. What's more likely is he will continue to trot him out there for the rest of the year, and he will struggle into playoffs. Then there's a 10000000% chance he ends up starting Barnes in a playoff game because he says "Smith is struggling of late" lol

As DL wrote above, Smith does have problems handling the length of a season, and tails off decidedly trying to...his dropoff offensively is startling and I guess that's all we can hope for is the first half production from him. Just doesn't have the physical make up to do it. I heartily suggest drug enhancement, since MLB, incredibly, has stopped testing.
With his long term contract, the only way to insure a somewhat consistent O from the catching spot is to bring up a prospect and unfortunately sacrifice Austin Barnes. I think inevitably dealing with the situation as it is, there's no other way around it.
Especially if this dolt at manager insists on batting him so high in the lineup so stubbornly well after his bat has cooled to almost nil.

Last year could have been fatigue.

This year's fall off began much earlier. Not buying the fatigue thing. Injury? He's missing a lot of fat pitches.

He had a great April and May and has been shit ever since. A year ago he started to fade in July, but nothing like this year.

Well, I get what you're saying. But if it's not fatigue or pampering or whatever, then the only thing left is: after spring is over...he sucks.
    There's that.
