Which of the two would you prefer the Dodgers to sign next year.
Which one makes the Dodgers better considering the other players on the team.
Is it possible the Dodgers sign both?

Harper creates less of an issue in the infield assuming Seager comes back strong.

Harper over Puig in right is an upgrade.

But in all honesty, I really think pitching is a bigger issue for us now.

A few months ago I'd say Harper. Now I'd say Machado. In a few months it may be Harper again. Idk

The only thing I know is we aren't getting either of then.

    The LA Rays

Then the Lakers get LeBron and win 3 more rings like it's nothing

Don't think he's opting out myself given his injury history of late. As for the question at hand I voted neither, as has been pointed out we need pitchers.

You want neither if one is available because we need pitchers? Why not sign Machado/Harper and trade for a pitcher?

I would go Machado as well and trade Verdugo and others for pitching.
Then when Seager comes back the team becomes a super team.

    CF: Joc/Taylor
    SS: Machado
    LF: Kemp
    2B: Seager
    3B: Turner
    1B: Bellinger/Muncy
    RF: Puig/Bellinger
    C : Grandal/Barnes

When Kemp and Turner wind down it will be.

    CF: Joc/Taylor
    SS: Machado
    2B: Seager
    1B: Bellinger
    3B: Muncy
    RF: Puig/Kike
    LF: Toles/Prospect
    C : Grandal/Ruiz

It might ultimately be cheaper and better overall for the team if the Lakers resign Grandal and Puig to relatively cheap contracts and add Machado into the mix. With the long list of FA this offseason Puig and Grandal won't be super high commodities. Barnes and the other guys are not up to Grandals level. Ruiz is the hope at catcher.

I think Machado ages more gracefully and I like the idea of big RH power bat to slide in between Bellinger and Seager. I don't know if it is our scouting or what, but Harper has never impressed me against our LHP(and his splits aren't great either). Seager probably would go to third, Turner 1B, maybe Muncy to 2B if that continues, Belli to RF(Is Puig a FA at the end of the year?), Taylor CF and Pederson LF

I just don't think committing probably half your payroll to 1 player bodes well for future flexibility. You can sign 2 pitchers for the reported prices for Harper and or Machado. Just my .02.

Puig's contract expires after this year, not sure if he becomes a FA because he was signed as an international prospect. Turner was a 2nd baseman so maybe he goes there if it's Machado.

    probably in the minority
but i don't think we should add either
nothing to back it up, just a gut feeling that they would get injured and never be the same
    especially machado (racist)
same could be said for pitchers (probably more so tbh)
but i'd rather they address the an area of need

Ask and you shall receive. An article JUST came out about Puig and it says the team still has 1.5 years of control.

A guy like Harper is always a risk. Whether folks believe it or not, the dude plays hard and it is a big reason why he has gotten hurt so much and his desire to stay on the field and play through injuries is why he has had some serious down stretches. I said it earlier in the season, but I could see the FO passing on these guys and loading up on a couple of the big arms coming on the market.
