    but olivo's the one with monster numbers in aaa

    still, what's the guy gotta do to get a shot?
    .396/.448/.698 is pretty formidable at any level
    what's the worst that can happen?
    let's say he comes up and sucks ass
    so what? how is that any different than what the fedex/butera combo have given us?
    i understand where the writer is coming from, but his rage is misplaced imo
    olivio has earned a shot

    You know better than to post up AAA numbers, Irish. :p

    Fed Ex was hitting .418/.500/.848 with 8 HRs and 25 RBI's in 21 games last year in the AAA.

    Olivio is also 35. I'd rather have these young(er) dudes around.

    but the younger guys aren't cutting it
    at 35, olivio wasn't signed to play in aaa
    he's insurance; either going to get a shot on the big club or get released
    had fedex or butera done their jobs we wouldn't even be having this conversation
    age, aaa... idk
    olivio has earned a shot
    again i ask, what's the worst that can happen?
    not like the other two's "production" is going to be missed

    I agree and disagree at the same time (I do shit like that).

    I agree he can't be worse than what has been happening. I know in my heart he's gonna suck, he hasn't found the magic bean at age 35. But given what Fedutera is doing, you're right, he's earned a shot.

    I disagree that he wasn't signed to play AAA. He most definitely was. He signed a minor league contract. He was number 4 on the depth chart. If you were number 4 on the depth chart, do you think you'd see much big league action?

    Olivo literally can't be worse than FedEx and Olivo has shown power at the major league level before, granted he's 35 years old now, but it literally can't hurt us more than it can help us.

    • In an ESPN Insider piece, Jim Bowden writes the Dodgers must trade one of their outfielders prior to the trade deadline and another in the offseason to clear room for Joc Pederson, who is ready for big league action. Bowden goes through each player’s contract before concluding that he’d first look to move Andre Ethier and then Carl Crawford, noting that a trade of either would require the Dodgers to eat significant amounts of salary. Pederson is batting .393/.491/.628 through his first 114 plate appearances.

    idk that olivo earned a shot as much as his timing worked out. he's probably going to get a hit or two more than fedex. hope we don't lose to much defensively but i'm guessing we probably do.

    yeah pretty much sums up how I feel. Fed-Ex had some silly defensive mistakes but Olivo is pretty bad himself. Hopefully we get lucky and he has some sort of hot streak right now, thats pretty much best case scenario for us
