My guess is Withrow is recalled tomorrow with Crawford being placed on the 15 day DL.

Ethier is good for one of these games about once a month. That's his ceiling now days. SVS should get the call over Kemp. SVS-Joc-Puig is the Dodger OF that I think about every waking moment. And matter of fact I dream about that OF too.

Spoke to my buddy today. He laughed as he was telling about hanleys calf and the ongoing negotiations being the reason he's been out. He wouldn't go into details about what's really going down. But again he laughed about the calf so....

i like SVS..he's cool and all that, but i'm not in love with the guy's ability. they were giving Guerrero work in LF in the minors..he needs to be considered as an answer in LF if he's gonna rake like he was. if we're not far from Seager @ 3B and Arruba proves to be a superstar level glove @ SS..Guerrero will find himself in one of two spots..LF or 2B and probably flexing with Dee @ those spots.

what i heard about Joc is that Kasten and others are worried about his defense too, but moreso his striking out + they don't wanna start his clock. i just assume he's gonna stay down until next year and until they've dealt away the 3 bums. Lol there's enough confusion and " 4 outfielders! " chaos as it is without throwing Joc into the pot.

I wonder how we're all going to react when Joc finally gets here and doesn't rake right away.

    • Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti and president Stan Kasten spoke with Howard Bryant of ESPN about the club's payroll. Colletti told Bryant that the Dodgers admittedly don't plan to spend at their current $229MM level forever, but they felt the need to turn things around "overnight" and make up for a four-year span of disappointment as they fought irrelevancy. Kasten told Bryant, "I always say that smart beats rich. But it's better to be smart and rich." He went on to say that his club is trying to find a balance of the financial power we've seen from the Red Sox and Yankees over the past 15 years and combine it the intelligence consistently shown by the Athletics and Rays.
okay stan, let's see if i've got it
    smart beats rich
but it's better to be smart and rich
    great

    but here's the problem...
    you're not smart
and (as ned said) you don't plan on spending at the current level forever
so you're essentially neither rich nor smart, right?

Whaaaaat? You don't think Kasten is smart? You might want to check his resume. You might want to check all the international talent that has been signed since he took over. The man has built two organizations into talent rich positions. It didn't happen overnight. Let's see where the club is around 2017-18.

yea, you went a lil overboard taking the wood to Kasten. i trust that he'll eventually work out the issues.

    really?
then why did they themselves say they felt they needed to turn things around "overnight"
    don't kill the messenger

p.s. probably shouldn't have said stan wasn't smart
frustration starting to boil over a bit

I'm gonna give you a pass on this one, you're a passionate guy. IMO, they did turn things around 'overnight'. Though underperforming, the Dodgers gained instant respect when the 'deal' went down. Sure lots of shit was talked, but I'm willing to bet that to a club that the NL feared what was boiling up in LA. And I don't think there isn't a team out there that isn't thinking "if they catch fire like they did last year..."

No, we haven't won jackshit just yet...but I sure as hell like the position we are in.
