    • The Dodgers have been in contact with Trea Turner and those conversations are expected to continue throughout the offseason, but the reality is starting to sink in that Turner likely won’t be playing in Los Angeles in 2023. Turner, arguably the best shortstop on the market, will get a long-term contract. If Turner does head elsewhere, which is the expectation as of now, the Dodgers could stay with Gavin Lux as their in-house option. They could also try to sign Xander Bogaerts, who might be slightly cheaper. The more realistic option, however, is that the Dodgers don’t sign any of the top four free-agent shortstops. A trade for the Brewers’ Willy Adames makes too much sense and the Dodgers have shown interest, but it remains to be seen if Milwaukee is ready to unload its franchise shortstop.

Keeping Trea or not will never be the difference in a WS title for this team.

It's troubling & grotesque that we all know this fact, yet the Dodgers are run by billions of dollars worth of professionals who don't know that.

    That, or they DGAF.

Gavin Lux, at this stage of his career, compared to what we've had and what's out there as the everyday ss...?
Naw, sorry, I ain't buying that just yet Andy.
We'll pay dearly on the field overall if that's their move and " solution".
They've got more $ leeway now than in years, and they're gonna go on the cheap ?
Maybe they know now- finally- there's really no brass ring at the end of the bb carnival with Davey the one reaching for it...

Rather keep him in the division. Dodgers own his ass (very homo).

Word is Dodgers are meeting with Justin Verlander today. Would fit their preference for big talents on short-term deals (with of course very high AAV). Both NY teams interested and of course incumbent Astros.

Verlander makes a lot of sense.

A righty between Urias and Kershaw is nice. Short term and high AAV, exactly what our front office is about.

    in other news…
    • The Marlins have hired Brant Brown as their new hitting coach, as per SportsGrid’s Craig Mish (Twitter link). Brown was one of the Dodgers’ two hitting coaches, and The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal (via Twitter) reported earlier today that Miami was looking at Brown as the newest member of its staff.

Next up in stupendous Marlin signings: Cody Bellinger, because they sure got him straightened out while on LA over the last 3 seasons.

Yeah, I'm with BDK. Dude has been atrocious in the few games he has played over the last, I don't know, 7 years? Convinced my numbers on the mound would be similar to his.

With that said, I now fully expect him to be a dominant late game reliever and comeback player of the year candidate lol

Wouldn't be the first successful dumpster dive for this front office.

    Using logic ? Silly boyo...
No pressing need/ unproven/ injury prone = signing
Proven/ solid performer/ sturdy, healthy = no interest
Given successful trash heap reclamation projects, and the remaining core, the fine regular season record ( although going to be much more difficult than in the recent past, for sure ) is possible to maintain to a reasonable degree.
    But champions...
    Nah.
    Like always.
