I can't quite put a word or expression on the fact that players, like Gonsolin, go out there and do whatever they do, and are shadows of their former selves because of injuries they've had and that were never revealed.
So fans think it's a bad spell, that eventually goes to serious suckitude. Then, the guy disappears for a year or whatever. We watched it happen with Buehler, too.
Now, it's revealed the Will Smith, of the months-long nosedive, has had a broken rib ( April 30) all the while. Now, I've had broken ribs, and playing professional baseball, especially as catcher, is mystery to me. Caucasian, please...
Wtf is the purpose of all this clandestine bullshit ?
At least if you are aware as a fan, you can admire the guy, instead of the natural letdown. What is the advantage if nobody knows? The competition can hit it if it's center cut, injury or not. The player can K with RISP, injury or not.
The Dodgers can be the weirdest fucking team in the sport.
Imo, part of the reasons why they are mostly ultimately losers.
