may very well be "as tough off the mound as he is on it"
    ...but definitely a lot poorer

Boras says number of clubs interested in Keuchel
Field Level Media [Reuters] — 30 March 2019

Free agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel's representatives are "in discussion with a number of clubs," agent Scott Boras told MLB Network on Friday.

Boras said Keuchel, the 2015 American League Cy Young Award winner, is throwing simulated 95-pitch games every five days so that he'll be ready to step into a team's rotation when he signs.

Keuchel compiled a 76-63 record in seven seasons with the Houston Astros. He pitched in 192 games (183 starts) and has a lifetime 3.66 ERA with 945 strikeouts in 1,189 1/3 innings. He is believed to be waiting for a team to offer at least a five-year contract, but teams apparently have been unwilling to sign a 31-year-old for that long.

MLB Network's Jon Heyman tweeted earlier this week that Keuchel "remains committed to waiting for the right offer. Seems to be as tough off the mound as he is on it."

    nice gesture guys [sarcasm]
    hilarious really...
because, 1, you still have zero starting pitching
2, you two clowns make more than the rest of your team combined
and, 3, you're still the padres

Roberts emphatic that Dodgers will continue to use platoon lineups
by Clint Evans | Dodgers Nation — 31 Mar 2019
    [IMG]
After setting a big league record with eight home runs on Opening Day, Dave Roberts met some skepticism for changing the lineup drastically for Friday evening’s game. However, Roberts stands by the decision and says that everyone needs to get used to it. Furthermore, it sounds as if the platoon and player shuffle we have become accustomed to will continue.

Roberts told Bill Plunkett of the OC Register that the Dodgers won’t deviate from their strategy.

“We are going to move guys around. Our guys have done it for three years and we’re going to do it again,” he said.

What this means – is that the Dodgers are likely to never have the same lineup twice. Always tinkering, and shuffling yacht furniture on the deck of the ship. Even if Joc Pederson homers a few times and is red hot – he might not necessarily play the next day. In fact, anyone seems to be fair-game for a day off. Moreover, there is no rhyme or reason to try and guess at what the Dodgers will do next with the lineup card.

“It’s part of having a plan,” he said. “Yeah, sometimes it can be hard not to deviate. I’m not saying I’m in a box. But it’s the second game of the season. You have to be able to stick to a plan for at least a couple games.”

    MY ANALYSIS
Personally, I don’t like the platoon lineups. But they aren’t going away, so I need to get used to them. Still, I make the case that it ruins hot streaks, prolongs slumps, and you use all your toys up early. Then you’re using Hyun-Jin Ryu to pinch hit when a game goes into extra innings.

I agree with the writer. I don't like platoons either.

I don't see how Roberts or the front office can expect lh hitters to hit lh pitchers or rh hitters/rhp if they never get any opportunities to face them.

amazing to me how progressive thinking sounds more like old school lock step
its the way we've always done it, its the way we will continue to do it
    completely inflexible in their flexibility
incorporating working aspects of the game like hot streaks is verboten
