I should have added that I will take joy out of this if it happens. One of my buddies is a Cubs fan that lives in LA and he has given us shit for YEARS about the Dodgers TV deal. It would be nice to turn things around on him, haha.

Out of the rest of the field ( 1B, RF, LF) I'd easily have 3B ahead of those positions, and especially if you get your hands on Arenado or Rendon [no homo]. A dynamic guy can change games, no doubt. Agreed, it'd be a great thing to have. Would love to have Arenado. Think he can be a force multiplier in the right situation, he has that day to day fire.

For shits and giggles, let's LAD does land Mookie..how do you think they build out the rest of the OF? We potentially have Peters on the way and looking for one of those corners ( if he doesn't go to Boston)..have Joc of course..Pollock..Verdugo. Obviously, the best defensive OF on the team would still be Belli. Some options. The theory of Muncy in LF, as well. Tough decisions. Because I'm so geared towards whatever helps us win in OCT, think my preference would be Muncy in LF, Mookie in CF and Belli in RF when it comes down to it and it's fall/winning time. I don't trust Muncy a ton in the IF..open up 3B for Rios, Seager stays at SS, Lux - 2B eventually during season ( Taylor/Kike until then), JT - 1B.

Think I'd trust our staff to get Muncy line up in LF properly batter to batter and make it work. But that alignment obviously means no Joc, Pollock or Verdugo. You know how I feel about Pollock and Verdugo and their unreliability in making it through a season. No Joc for OCT could be a downer, some potential for that..I guess in essence, Rios would be replacing Joc in the lineup in this scenario

Yes, die hard fans like us will find a way to watch the games no matter what. But being off basic cable and satellite packages is a big problem when you're talking about luring in new fans to the game. You are also taking the Dodgers off of television screens in restaurants and bars across Los Angeles and Orange county, which essentially makes the team invisible to anyone who already isn't a fan. That's not a good recipe for drawing new eyeballs to the team, or for the general perception of your brand's popularity. I walk into restaurants every so often and see the angels and reruns of old football games on the TVs while the Dodgers are playing. Not great.

The Dodgers are one of only two teams in MLB not to offer streaming for those with valid cable subs, too.

They will suffer the consequences of this. Maybe not now, but someday.

    Order next fall

    Seager SS
    Mookie CF
    Muncy LF
    Belli RF
    JT 1B
    Lux 2B
    Willie C
    Rios 3B

Not too bad. Rios exhibited a little patience when he came up..small sample size, but try to build on that and get us through the pitcher's spot a bit and it could work out. But yeah, I still can't believe Boston is moving Mookie. Dombrowski will probably figure it out

They'd probably let JT stay @ 3B if it's out him and Rios. Rios being more comfy @ 1B. Hard to say

The San Francisco Giants removed the bullpen mounds today like they do at the end of every season at Oracle Park.... this time it is for good!!! The team will be moving the pens to behind the walls in RCF and CF this next season. FUCKING FINALLY. I believe the A's will be the only team left with bullpens in the field of play. Oracle will also have new dimensions last year and this is expected to impact the EXTREME pitchers park somewhat.

If they get Betts, I think you can count on Verdugo and Rios not being around as those are guys that would likely interest Boston. The Sox still want to compete and both of those guys have the upside of positively impacting multiple positions for the club. If Pollock is around next year, I expect him to get a regular shot in the OF with no platoon as well. Now that he is getting regular playing time, he is starting to really get into a groove. Something you can't really say, but there is plenty of reason to believe that the elbow problem that has impacted 3 different seasons has been corrected, due to what the doctors discovered earlier this season.

I remember teams being cold on Verdugo when he was on the market, but he did perform well before his annual collapse. You don't think it'd be close between Verdugo and Peters, for Dombrowski's eye? But I guess Verdugo is likely gone in any scenario where Mookie lands with LAD, so what does it matter, right?

Have zero optimism for Pollock as a long term solution. Can only hope for the best while he's around..happy he's healthy enough to go at the most important point in the season

I wrote this somewhere else, but Peters is creeping into non-prospect/Quad A player territory. AAA pitching tore him apart after they figured him out and reports on Peters were terrible down the stretch.

I think Verdugo raised his stock a good bit this year and injury aside, it would be incredibly short sighted to give up on the kid already. He has worn down somewhat over the last couple of seasons, but there are ways of fixing that and word is that he really took off-season conditioning to heart just this past year. His attitude was his number 1 drawback and from everything I have heard, he has addressed it. So it sounds like he is doing all the right things and I absolutely would believe that the Sox would be interested.

You all have made this point many times before, and I have never properly addressed it. You're ALL right as rain.

I realize, probably too late, that if my kids are going to love baseball and the Dodgers, that it'll take me to do it, because Vinny, KTTV, and AM radio isn't there to infuse them with what those outlets gave me in spades.

It is possible that baseball will be as relevant as bowling one day, and that is gonna suck ass if that happens.

So I thought Rendon would get around $180M..
Uhh, the Nats have reportedly offered him $210M

And he didn't accept? He must just want out of DC. He's a Texas kid..Houston. Might he prefer warmer weather?

Nats are about to be pilfered. Already rumblings that the Pads are gearing up for SD guy Strasburg. Sounds like the Pads have one more big signing in them.

    Jesus, it gets better.
    • Their GM was the one that wanted the opt-out for Arenado and it was not something he was interested in. The GM pushed for it so that "he feels no pressure to prove a winning team as a way to keep Arenado."
    • Their owner says they don't have much if any financial flexibility.
    • Their owner preached patience since the Dodgers didn't really do anything last year, yet they got significantly better.
Good thing we have basements in these parts, since the Rockies better get used to being in the one in the NL West for a while.

Peters was awesome in July, so he must have fallen apart pretty bad there at the end.

Verdugo's worn down just about every year as a pro, that's where my pessimism comes from with him

Nats always pull money out of their asses and find ways to unexpectedly get guys. 8 yrs at 210 sounds somewhat light for Rendon. Then again he is entering his age 30 season so that might not be worth passing up.

Yeah, that's my thing. He's 30. He better take $210M. Unless of course he has it on good authority that the same $210M or better will be there from a better landing spot

According to scouts that saw him, it got pretty bad at how they were abusing him.

Players wear down in the minors though, this is not unheard of. Verdugo was generally playing more games than a guy his age usually would as he was 1-2 levels above average for his age until last season. Also for the record, one of those years he apparently was playing through a pretty severe ankle injury that he got on a HBP, but did not want to come out. I would honestly not look too hard into that until you see that on the regular in the bigs. A back injury is generally worrisome and him not coming back from it intensifies frustrations. However, this is still a kid with what is considered elite bat to ball skills and had started to develop power as the season went on. Not someone that you should willy nilly move on from unless you are getting someone like a Betts.

Did Harper get that much more $ for leaving DC? Bowden said the Nats offered much more than the $300M that they offered him nearing the end of last season
