How do you guys feel about Mookie Betts giving a speech to the Dodger clubhouse about what he expects from them in terms of work ethic and stuff?

    I think it's bullshit.

First off, he's been here for 1 day.
Second, the Dodgers have won more games than any team in MLB for over a decade.
Third, he cheated against us in the WS.
Fourth, he will be gone in the off season when we don't give him 400 million dollars.

I already don't like Mookie Betts or David Price all that much, tbh.
Not sure how I feel about Alex Wood being back, either.

Folks say Betts and Price are good clubhouse guys, but I just don't feel them as a fan.

Some would say this makes me impossible to satisfy (homo)...and that may be so...

...But they aren't having the effect Manny Ramirez or Adrian Gonzalez had on me.

maybe i'm in the majority, but i like it
and i like that he spoke up immediately
something has been missing from this team -- maybe it's leadership
fuck coddling these guys, they need a kick in the ass after getting bounced in the first round to an inferior team

    caveat:
if it comes out he cheated, then fuck him... he's no better than the astros
but imo a little premature to vilify him at this point

If he meant business he would've looked Dave in the eye and let him know he isn't tolerating his bullshit decisions in the post.

Turner seemed to have a positive reaction to what Betts did, so there's that.
I feel like Betts may be a cheater who bolts after the season, but if the players are fine with what he did, I guess we'll roll with it.

I dunno, I’m ok with it if the team is ok with it. If JT and Kershaw are cool, then I’m not going to argue. But I get the bullshit. Without the cheating scandal Mookie could have no rings and joining a team with 2 rings in 3 years. Would Mookie give the same speech in that case? I dunno. If the Golden State Warriors traded for James Harden, would Harden call everyone out?

    Exactly.
Dodgers should have won a bunch of titles by now.
Tram could use some east coast direction.

    Bingo
And by taking over the team he is spitting in the eye of Dave.
    Doing what Dave hasn't done.

Have to imagine that LAD execs are either happy that Mookie's looking to take over leadership, or at the very least - had that in mind for him down the road. Exactly what this soft as Charmin franchise needs injected into it's culture..a team that the FO wanted to shake up this off-season, anyway..a bunch of sad guys, having their asses handed to them every year in the postseason. This shit goes beyond HOU or BOS in the WS. Hell, chapter 1 was 2013 and we're obviously in 2020 now, so this is a longstanding cultural issue. Kershaw was a choker before 2017. Tired of LAD being led by chokers. Even if it's for 1 year - maybe some of these young players will take Mookie's leadership, adopt it and make it their own.

Fuck Boston's WS win in 2018. How Mookie attacks each and every day is what you look for in a force multiplier. A guy that can lift everyone around him. I hope they fall in line. And where the hell is Lindor? All the talk about how Joc is going to feel about returning to the team after reportedly being on his way to the Halos..Seager was set for Cincy. How does he feel? Need to figure it out and pull the trigger - get Lindor in here to help Mookie turn around the culture and overcome the shitcan manager

The Dodgers offered to restructure the deal and he said no. He can be pissed all that he wants, but the simple matter of the fact is that in the playoffs he is not a viable starter on a team with WS aspirations. Maybe if we had 3 absolute horses at the top ala 90's Braves, but that is not usual in this day and age. He served the team best in a reliever role down the stretch and he wasn't interested. Would guess that the Dodgers would have love to have kept him around if he was willing to be a team player, but people also need to look after themselves.

STRONG disagree with you here. When I heard about what he did, I loved it and it sounds like the vets did too. This is who Mookie is and it sounds like he is a leader in the clubhouse. We have a team of a lot of quiet leaders in terms of Kershaw and Jansen, with Turner really being the only known vocal guy and he doesn't exactly strike me as a hard ass. Sounds like Mookie is a little bit Gibson/little bit Greinke in that he will tell you how it is and he expects you to give it everything you got day in and day out. Nothing wrong with having a leader like that around this team especially with how lackluster they looked in the 2018 and 2019 playoffs.

Mookie strikes me as I don’t like interviews or talking to make him look good he lets his game do the talking and he is going to tell it how it is what he sees from his teammates work ethics or la k of it

    I mean, yeah.
When I saw past Antonelli's headline and heard what J.T. and a couple other players have said, I sort of changed my opinion on that.

    • Bellinger had some discomfort in his side, but it is said to be extremely minor. He wanted to play today, but the team advised him to not push it.
    • Joc is taking BP and should see game action soon. He was shut down after he was experiencing pain in his side.
    • Jimmy Nelson played catch today, the first time since getting shut down a second time from back and groin issues. Dave Roberts said that his path onto the roster at this point seems to be via the relief route.

This project looks really cool... but man they are going to have to REALLY fucking hustle get this shit done. I know a lot of what is left are prefabs, but that's still a lot of work with very little margin for error or proper preparation. Also, I got to believe it is only a matter of time now until the parking lots start getting developed. Feels like this was the final step for the stadium facelift before they get to exterior.

Looking at some of the renovations/retrofits of other stadiums (shipping crate seats in the upper deck in Cleveland comes to mind), I have nothing but praise for Janet Smith and the Dodgers.
They have done a great job.
As for timeline, Smith said the outfield construction will not be ready in time for the preseason games with the Angels.
The surface level stuff should all be functional on Opening Day, but finishing touches will likely continue up until the All Star Game.
