Unlike Lux, May does deserve to be up a bit more as he played better in ST 2.0. While just like Lux, there are guys ahead of him on the depth chart that probably deserve a shot too. Guys like Wood and Stripling are going to have short leashes, so if they struggle, he is going to be back. As of now, I do not feel it is service time manipulation as keeping him as a starter with the amount of pen arms they need to try out is understandable, but if they keep him down for the first 20 days, then magically call him up on day 21(# days where they get an extra year), then I will agree that it was a service time thing.

Does it have to be the first 20 days or 20 combined throughout the season?

This whole thing has been a sham. The season should have started a month ago, but the owners were being D-bags. I would not have had a problem with the 16 team playoff if it were that 7x4 format. The best teams would still win. Manfred has been a disaster.

So I *THINK* with the new format Lux needs to be on the MLB roster for 52 days this season to earn his year, May needs 41 and Gonsolin is 44. This season is 66 service days.

because in baseball a super shitty team can beat an elite team in a best out of 3, it happens a lot. The more games you play, the higher chance of the better team coming out on top.

Sports like football, basketball and hockey can make due with short playoff series, baseball is not in the same category. It gives a team that may have 1 great pitcher the chance to steal a series where they ultimately can get lucky. That is harder and harder to do. It is also why a lot of people have pushed for 7 game series throughout the playoffs since you can get those teams that sneak in with a lesser team. For a sport built around the rigors of a marathon 162 game season, it has a dumb format for the playoffs that nullifies many of the aspects that make you great for that long haul.

So... It's rigged for the rich teams with the rigged salary cap and that's the Only right way?

I don't man, those teams don't seem that elite to me.
We just call them elite because they have more money.
And we don't put the right value on what truly is elite.
    Like the old dodger way.

So this new system would give cheap teams the incentive to spend on at least one big pitcher and a few boppers then go money ball on the rest of the team and try to beat the Goliaths?
Sounds way more exciting than teams so full of stars that they have good players rotting away at the end of the bench or used up for a bit then sent back down to the minor leagues to keep exploiting the rules of service time in what in any other industry would be bad faith practices.

All other sports it's ok for underdogs to have a chance.
But baseball has to be controlled so winning the top payroll in your division gets you closer to a ring than beating the other teams best pitcher.
Ignoring that these super team have 2 or 3 aces on their staff.
Yet become snowflakes when faced with some lesser pitcher on a real team with chemistry who gets his mojo going at the right time.
    The fear is strong.

Betts has a TON of deferrals in his contract and it is really looking like the Dodgers took advantage of the current climate.

Kershaw was injured during a workout routine on Tuesday. Felt better on Wednesday, but Roberts did not want to push it.

Roberts in his presser today that the plan is for Muncy to be the leadoff hitter for the foreseeable future and if you look at tonight's lineup, it is L-R-L-R-L-R-L-R-R. Roberts hinted at that they are expecting to see a lot of openers this season. So the Dodgers are likely looking at combating that with an uneven nightly lineup that will also make the 3 batter rule a bit tougher on opposing bullpens.
