Twins have reportedly offered Josh Donaldson a deal of 4 years in the neighborhood on $90M. This seems like a pretty decent price for the star 3B who may be best suited for an AL team as he ages.

The Rockies are becoming more and more likely to move Arenado and are now 50-50 to do so according to Morosi. He said the Dodgers are not one of the half dozen teams he’s seen as going to as the Rockies are not willing to trade him within the division. Let’s be real, they’d trade him within the division, they’re just not willing to trade him to the Dodgers.

Is there any indication as to whether or not Arenado would exercise his no-trade clause? Or is it assumed that if the Rockies are rebuilding he would prefer to play with a contender no matter who it is?

My initial inclination is that Arenado would command less in return than say, Lindor, given that Arenado really only comes with 2 years of control, for more money, and the added risk of $160 million guaranteed after the 2 years.

There was a rumor a couple weeks ago that his camp was telling people that he would only accept a trade to one of the Cali teams, preferably SoCal and he is pretty much out of options for that at this point outside the two division rivals. White Sox, Twins, Rangers and Nats are all said to be in on him the hardest and I would guess that the Dodgers, Giants and Phillies have checked in at length as well. of all those first 4 teams mentioned, only the Nats would offer the most opportunity for continuous success, but I have to say that the White Sox are certainly doing an admirable job of locking their young studs up and could certainly be a threat.

For what the Rockies are asking for in return, they were said to have asked the Sox for either Moncada or Luis Robert to headline a deal. So they are certainly fishing for a monster return.

    • White Sox have signed star OF prospect(#3 in baseball) Luis Robert to an 8 year deal. They were expected to manipulate his service time, but this way he will likely break camp with the club and the team gets him through his age 29 season. I really wish we would start doing this shit. One thing to keep an eye on now is what this could mean for the Indians going forward seeing two division rivals taking big steps forward this offseason after falling short a year before when the division was a bit weaker.
    • RHP Will Harris is supposedly closing in on a decision as he is looking over a few multi-year deals that will be in the $6-7M per range. This is one of the few guys left that I would love to have on the Dodgers and will be frustrated if he signs elsewhere.
    • The Nats are said to be looking at alternative options for 3B in the event that they do not land Josh Donaldson. There seems to be something off here as it sounded like the two teams were close-ish to a deal weeks ago, but he said he was going to give the Braves a last shot to beat any offer. They are said to be in on Nolan Arenado, but are refusing to part with Victor Robles in a deal, which is what the Rox are asking for. The Nats system is incredibly thin, so making a deal for a top flight player should not be an easy task.
    • A report over the holidays said that the feeling within the Red Sox organization at this point is that the club will retain Mookie Betts for the upcoming season and plan to make him a substantial offer to remain with the club long term. The Red Sox are currently well over the tax and their owner is supposedly adamant about getting under it. A recent article talking about how the group has now increased the value of the franchise to unprecedented levels, could make for a tougher spot for him to get away with trading their superstar OF'er. For them to get under, they would need to look at moving Price (32M AAV, 3 yrs), Sale (25.6M AAV, 5 yrs), Martinez ($22M AAV, 3 yrs), Boegarts($20M AAV, 6 yrs) or Eovaldi ($17M AAV, 3 yrs). Only Boegarts would be easy.

    arenado to la won’t happen
rockies won’t trade to a division rival — least of all to us
and even if they did, dodgers wouldn’t give up the ransom they’d ask for in return

Well unless they are eating a big chunk of that deal, they aren’t going to get it

Morosi reporting that the Dodgers and Red Sox have been having more in-depth talks about a deal that would send Betts and David Price to the Dodgers. The Dodgers seem to be interested in this option as the Red Sox are willing to talk about a deal without Lux going the other way. He says Gonsolin or May would be their focus.

He says the Dodgers have grown frustrated with the Indians as they refuse to remove Lux from trade discussions.

LMAO! This is the most brazen FUCK YOU to the fans in modern history. I only hope the lemmings start voting with their feet.

If the team is sub .500 a month in things will be very interesting in the press and the boards but I doubt Kasten and GuGGs will GAF then either, since they have the extra day of revenue from the ASG jerk off to.

Don't you remember how Price kept the Red Sox from kicking our nice guys' ass in the WS?
