Dodgers signed Jimmy Nelson

 

I'm not surprised in the least. The Red Sox were already busted in 2017 for using electronics to steal signs and in 2018 they added the bench coach from the team that was taking sign stealing to a new level.

I know I've said this before, and it sounds a little tin-hattish, but for those who want to send any big prospects or take on a ridiculous contract for Mookie Betts... I'd think twice about it.

 

Predictably, nobody in the game is willing to publicly finger those who were cheating or those whom they believe might be cheating. But given assurances of anonymity, several league sources indicate the Astros, Dodgers, Red Sox, New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks have been especially adept with technological surveillance. One source mentions the Cubs and Washington Nationals dabble a bit "but not as much as others." Another source says the Indians, while still another notes the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers once were suspected as well.




Same old story. Dodgers just aren't the best at it - consistent with their on field performance.

Here is what I wrote about Nelson a week ago. For only a $1M guarantee and as much as $3M if he is healthy, this is a totally worthwhile gamble. Dodgers starters under control in the season ahead are Kershaw, Buehler, Maeda, Stripling, Nelson, Urias, May and Gonsolin. With White and Santana now being slid down to relievers, the MiLB depth has been zapped, but Gray is said to be close to MLB ready. Nelson will be given a chance to compete for a spot in the starting rotation, but if he does not make it, he is said to be willing to go to the pen.

 

That's been official since the aforementioned HGH era that MLB went along with until the feds started breathing down their neck. I fully enjoy how MLB has moved from their obvious doctoring of the baseballs in order to increase HRs, to this sign stealing stuff. This product is not PG13. None of them are.

Have patience. Half the league is going to get fingered in this sign stealing BS, and everyone will just tip their cap and move on to the season.

 

Dodgers sign RHP Edubray Ramos to an MiLB deal. Dude was solid 2016-2018, before a horrible 2019. He just turned 27, so another interesting buy low guy for the pen.

On another front, if the Dodgers were cheating in 2017 and 2018.....they truly sucked at it.

It's painfully obvious that MLB is going to do absolutely nothing about the cheating scandal they're just waiting for the next news cycle and it just goes away

 

The Red Sox thing doesn’t sound nearly as bad as the Astros one. But still, fuck them too. MLB should award us Mookie Betts as compensation imo
