The Reds sign Castellanos. It’s a 4 year deal with opt outs after years 1 and 2. There’s a couple things coming out with this trade that are interesting.
    • The Reds have a plethora of MLB caliber OF’er’s now. They could look to trade from that strength and build another position up.
    • One to watch is Nick Senzel. Their former top prospect plays CF, a position they filled this offseason on the Japanese front. Senzel was said to be a favorite amongst the Indians front office and was a targeted return in their talks for Lindor. It will be interesting to see if those talks are reignited.
    • One report says that NL GM’s are starting to prepare for the DH in the NL in as as soon as next season. The Reds could be getting ahead of that and have the opt outs in place in the event that doesn’t take shape and Castellanos needs to head to the AL.

Man, I wish we were willing to make a "blow you away" offer for Lindor and Clevinger. That kind of add would put us right there with the Yankees.

Now that all the main impact players have been signed, word is that the trade market picked up big time. Friedman said today that he expects the team to make a move by ST and rumor is that GM’s around the league are saying that they expect a bevy of moves on the horizon. With this club, I’ll believe it when I see it!

The Bryant front is oddly quiet.

I should clarify as I think my post was misleading a bit. League-wide they are seeing a jump in activity with trade calls. Not teams expecting the Dodgers to pull off a bunch of last minute moves. With that said, Friedman sounded like a guy that expected to make a couple trades before the season starts; but yeah we’ve heard this shit before.

I think they were expecting a ruling by the end of this week. Once that’s settled, they could move quickly if the decision is to move him.

According to Rosenthal this morning, the Dodgers, Reds and Indians worked on a deal earlier this winter that would have had Lindor to LA, Seager to Cincy and prospects to the Indians, but talks stalled. It will be interesting to see if these pick back up as the Indians have once again not addressed their offense issue, the Twins look like dominant force in the division and the Reds may be more willing to part with better pieces now that they have excess in the OF.

Dear god, Cincy is just spinning their wheels. Certainly don't want half the league tanking, but I'd make an exception for Cincy. Just tank. Stop the madness. Send us Votto with a few dollars going towards his contract and start tanking, FFS.

I can’t help but be surprised when they act like they are “going for it”. I guess there’s no powerhouse in their division, so they see it as wide open... but their last winning season was 7 years ago. They aren’t a piece or two away, but god bless them for trying. The poor man’s Angels.

And I don’t want Votto. The ship has kinda sailed for his trade value.

Same thing they said about Verlander when he was stuck in the mud with a shitty team.

Rather see Votto stepping to the plate in OCT than just about every hitter currently on the Dodgers

And he wasn't " a great ", but a he was good. Few all-star campaigns.

Still. It's almost like Dusty's on an anti-LAD tour. Rival SFG..old rival Cincy..now the Astros. Who's next? I am sort of surprised because they've gone old school with this hire
