He won't be back this year
Ugh! With Caleb and Phillips showing recent mortality, and Almonte and Brusdar's health a question mark, and Kimbrel's odds of Krumbelling at any moment, we could've really used him.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are picking up right-hander Daniel Hudson’s $6.5 million option for the 2023 season, sources tell ESPN. He was fantastic for them before a freak ACL tear ended his season. Dodgers also will get a club option likely to be worth around $6.5 million for 2024.
watching CK in the dugout all i see is him smiling
would be shocked if it was anyone but LA
Julio Rodriguez getting an MRI on his low back ouch
so davey officially removed kimbrel as the closer lol
Gonsolin starting rehab assignment with OKC
by Blake Williams | DodgerBlue — 2 hours ago
Tony Gonsolin took a step toward returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation by participating in a simulated game at Dodger Stadium on Thursday.
Gonsolin, who has been on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain since Aug. 29, threw an estimated 30 pitches over two innings, which Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described as “encouraging.”
On Friday, Gonsolin felt as expected, so he is now scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
“Tony bounced back with some normal soreness, which is a good thing,” Roberts said. “I think as it stands right now, he’s slated for a rehab with OKC on Tuesday. Throw two innings, so that’s a good thing for us.”
Gonsolin is closing in on a month’s worth of missed games, which will limit how much he can be built back up. Thus, the Dodgers aren’t sure how many rehab appearances Gonsolin will need before he is ready to re-join the team.
“I think it’s all kind of contingent on how that one goes Tuesday,” Roberts said. “I don’t think there’s a set number of right now. We’ll just kind of see how Tuesday goes.”
With just 10 games left in the regular season, the Dodgers is running out of time to get him into Major League action before the postseason begins. Their first playoff game will take place on Oct. 11, but there are only four regular season games Gonsolin could reasonably pitch in after his rehab assignment.
WHAT WOULD GONSOLIN’S PLAYOFF ROLE BE?
If Gonsolin is activated in time for the postseason, the Dodgers could use him in a variety of ways, but the most important thing is getting him back to the team.
“I’ve already talked to Tony about number one, getting him back pitching,” Roberts said earlier this week. “And once we get to that point, then we’ll decide what role makes the most sense. So he’s open to whatever.”
Roberts could decide to use Gonsolin as a traditional starter and limit him to just a few innings, followed by Andrew Heaney or Tyler Anderson in a piggyback role, or they could put him in the bullpen as a multi-inning reliever.
roberts on may...
“It’s not just about stuff. It’s something he’s got to continue to learn and understand. That’s why the radar gun can be misleading at times. The velocity was there. It’s been there all year for him. There’s a strike quality, getting ahead, a component of when you have a hitter in a leverage count you have to put him away. Trying to bully guys – which I think at times he’s guilty of with the four-seamer – gets to be too predictable.”
Someone noted during the telecast of his last game that May was among the worst in the game at throwing first pitch strikes.
guys seem to have figured out how much his pitches break, so if it starts in the zone they let it go
no one's swinging anymore at the pitch that broke 3 feet on machado
time for him to make some adjustments
also, and maybe it's just me...
but his little hopping/jumping tantrums after giving up a hit/bomb irk the fuck out of me
Glad I haven't seen that yet - it would irritate me for sure.
So .... CBS seems to think that Pujols inexplicable power surge has everything to do with .... "a philosophical shift" that increased his exit velo and his power to LF.
UMMMMM .... that means he's facing lefties more and that means managers were allowing lefties to do so. Had righties been pitching him tough, maybe he'd be sitting at 685 dingers instead and ... Oh yeah .... He's already going to Hall anyway. It's obvious that MLB, Manfred the douchebag, most fans, and many players wanted Pujols to see 700 as much as Pujols did himself. So let's get real, shall we?
Here's the story ...
Looking at the postseason schedule ... Dodgers won't play game 1 of the NLDS until Oct 11?! Weird to start so late. Then, it'll go Oct 12, 14, 15, & 16.
NLCS starts Oct 18, World Series starts Oct 28-Nov 5
Hoping LA gets that far, I've gotta say, as a weather geek ... NY & Atlanta both have huge storms at those days per the almanac. This postseason may be delayed into mid-November.
Dodgers need to bring CK back next year and not let him sign with Texas or any other team. He needs to retire in Dodger Blue. First of all, he's five wins shy of 200 and about 200 K's from 3000. Want to see him reach those milestones in LA. The wins can happen next year, strikeouts may take two. Secondly, he's still a very effective pitcher - one-two on this team with Julio in my book. Third, every season we begin with a plethora of starting pitchers and then end up dipping into the farm or stringing together bullpen games - there's never too many starters. Fourth, he's simply a major plus for team morale. And lastly, I think Clayton's willingness to do one-year deals is extremely team-friendly. Bring him back AF!
Today's line of horseshit brought to you by Bob Nightengale ...
I'll save you the read: Nightengale says the Phils will sign Trea.
So ... Two things are sure in this world: Trea Turner will NOT sign with the Phillies and Bob Nightengale is a race -baiting sack of monkey spunk. Trea may not sign with LA, but Nightengale isn't right about any predictions. The guy could screw up a two-car parade.
