Zyhir Hope, 20, OF - part of the Michael Busch trade: - MLB Pipeline #75 overall prospect - Baseball Prospectus #8 overall prospect - Baseball America top 100, not sure where they rank him now but JJ Cooper thinks he can be the #1 overall prospect this time next year. Baseball America @BaseballAmerica | Oct 30, 2024 Reasons to get excited about ZyhirHope: - Plus raw power - Outlier athleticism - Advanced bat-to-ball - Low chase rates He's a rising star in the Dodgers system. Baseball America @BaseballAmerica | Jan 23 The Dodgers won the World Series. They signed the 2025 No. 1 prospect Roki Sasaki (and seemingly every other free agent). And now @jjcoop36 thinks another one of their minor leaguers has at least a *chance* at ranking No. 1 next year. https://www.mlb.com/milb/news/pipel...ing-prospects-top-100?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage
The "other" player in the Busch deal was Jackson Ferris, who is ranked 5th among left handed pitching prospects. https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/lhp/jackson-ferris-701328 https://www.mlb.com/video/top-prospects-jackson-ferris-lhp-dodgers-x2525
Hoping that their "interest" is fake and only goes as far as setting up another team to "win him", to maybe cut into the (mis)belief that the Dodgers just outbid everyone. Max is on the downside of his career, and unless they plan to trade Gonsolin or are reconsidering whether it's worth the risk to put Ohtani on the mound, I don't see where he'd fit in. They already need to cut someone (hopefully Grove) for Scott, and another (trade Brassier?) for Yates. How do they even sign Kike at this point, let alone Scherzer? That said, I hope the Gnats don't pair him up again with Verlander, but if they do, so be it.
I wish Shohei would just become an outfielder. Get the extra WAR from fielding and baserunning instead of risking his arm falling off.
agreed, but better yet... keep him at dh and move mookie back to the outfield c - will 1b - freddie 2b - kim/edman/kiké/ct3 3b - max ss - rojas/edman/kiké/ct3 lf - teoscar cf - conforto/edman/kiké/ct3 rf - mookie dh - shohei
apparently they made some sort of promise to Mookie during the blm riots when everyone was kneeling and blowing him I think Betts has tried to back out of the request somewhat but the brain trust wants their word to be kept no racist
this was fun to watch and can totally relate to all those NYY fans had to hurt but a lot of fun to watch nonetheless whole build up is good but the real fun starts around 13 min mark and dude in the dark hat losing his shit is awesome really like the sportsmanship in the end
sure you guys have all watched this but in my broke leg insomnia this was the first for me biggest takeaways for me is I'm going to miss Ferris and this team really needs Kike on the squad full banana homo
Dodgers have five players listed among Keith Law's top 100 prospects in today's Athletic. 16. Dalton Rushing 26. Josue DePaula 52. River Ryan 58. Zyhir Hope 68. Alex Freeland
Other than one possible Italian, this list looks racially acceptable, too. I'm starting to love this organization again!
We had the first black (Jackie) and the first Korean (Chan Ho). Billie Jean should be able to scare up the first tranny.
I can't tell from your post but in case you're not familiar with him, he pitched last year for the Dodgers and pitched will. Unfortunately, he'll be out all of 2025 with TJ.
an argument to re-sign kiké, from espn’s sole dodger fan buster olney… “Keeping Kiké Hernández on the roster is incredibly important. The season is so long. I think that if you’re a fan and you look at the players and you tune into one game and you imagine them having the same intensity that you did when you played little league, it’s not that way. This is their daily job and they go through ups and downs like the rest of us do where some days you’re really into it and some days you’re not. And so to have personalities that bring energy to the park like Kiké, that’s incredibly important. I think you absolutely have to pick the right personalities for those spots at the end of your roster.”
Dodgers are now showing interest in Tyler Matzek. He was pretty good in 20 and 21, meh in 22, missed 23 with injury, and got lit up in 24. Not sure what the interest is and whose spot he would conceivably take if they were to sign him. He's a lefty, so has that going for him, but with Vesia, Banda, and now Scott, is that really still a need? Mets, Yankees, and Phillies are also interested. I'm fine with one of them signing him.
