FOX Sports: MLB@MLBONFOX The Dodgers optioned Bobby Miller after last night's start against Colorado where he gave up six runs and eight hits over three innings of work. 11:52 AM · Apr 17, 2025 · 45.3K Views
Clearly they brought him back too early. He should not be moved again from AAA until 2026 at the soonest. He knows how to throw, but still needs to learn how to pitch. Like fsu noted, velocity is not enough. If his fastball is going to continue to be flat, he has to be able to locate it better. And that changeup was completely ineffective yesterday. It needs work. He did well the first two innings in avoiding deep counts, but that all changed in the third. If he can command all three pitches better, he'll fall behind less often in the count, which was his biggest issue last year and in the third yesterday. He gets really predictable when he's in a 3-ball count. Batters know the fastball is coming, and with no movement they just foul it off until they get one they can drive. Fingers crossed that the Dodgers won't need him again this year. Snell should be back soon. Gonsolin is one or two rehab starts from being ready. Knack looked better in his second start than his first, although he didn't give many innings. Kershaw is about a month away. Ohtani and/or Sheehan potentially later in the summer. Really hoping that this six-man rotation will mean less injuries this year. Just need to keep Catman away from the weight room and May from salads.
Snell provides update on injured Shoulder by Jason Fray | DodgersAssclown Nation - 5 hours ago The Dodgers were hoping Blake Snell would be back on the bump sooner than later. Derailed with shoulder soreness, he recently participated in some long toss to presumably ease his way back into action. Naturally, the next step would involve Snell ramping up in the form of a bullpen session. According to a report from The Orange County Register, Snell threw 30 pitches to gauge his pain tolerance. This marked the first time he threw on the mound since being put on the IL a few weeks ago. Snell offered an update that may make Dodgers fan a bit unhappy. The left-handed ace admitted that “the pain lingers here and there.” “Hey — I’m 32 now, not 23. Once I get throwing, I’m good,” Snell said. “When I play catch, I don’t feel it. When I get out here, I’m good. It’s like when I wake up I gotta get it going.” From here, the plan is for Snell to throw another bullpen session. The odds are he probably could throw multiple sessions before being sent out to throw a simulated game — or perhaps even participate in a Triple-A rehab contest. Assuming all the pain will have subsided by then, Snell would then rejoin the team. To somewhat assuage concerns those may have, Snell made it seem like things were trending in the right direction. “I just want to pitch. Am I worried about it? No,” Snell said. “I was worried about it when I went on the IL but not any more. It feels way better.” The rotation certainly has seen some upheaval as the year has progressed. While Dustin May, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki have done the heavy lifting, Snell’s injury coupled with the expected returns of Clayton Kershaw, Shohei Ohtani, Tony Gonsolin, and others has certainly taken a toll on the bullpen (also experiencing injuries). Glasnow’s injury scare on Sunday didn’t exactly help, either.
Update from the farm. BTW, I'm just getting this from box scores and team stats... don't want to give the impression that I'm an expert on the subject or have any inside information. Outman had a decent week, with a big HR - the only OKC offense in a win - and some singles. He has his average "up" to .179. Still striking out a lot. The same can be said for Kim, with a HR and multiple hits over the weekend. He too seems to K a lot, but at least has an .840 OPS to counter the strikeouts. OKC's most consistent hitters continue to be Feduccia and Freeland. Feduccia is 27 now and has accomplished about all that can be expected in the minors. He really should be catching on a major league roster, even if only as a backup. I'm speculating that with Barnes in the final year of his contract, Dodgers have Feduccia penciled in to take his place in '26... but if not they should trade him. The guy deserves to be in the show. Freeland's 11 doubles lead the PCL, and with only one HR so far, he's projecting to be more of a contact/gap hitter (nothing wrong with that). Rushing missed a handful of games. I'm not sure what the issue/injury was, but it was good to see him back in lineups on Friday and yesterday. In Double-A Tulsa, Ferris has a 1.80 ERA over two starts. Probably needs a few more games and then should get moved to OKC. OTOH, Erik Karros' kid Jared absolutely stinks, surrendering 15 ER over 11 innings. I was thinking he's only there as a favor to his old man, but in reviewing his previous stats, he held his own in the lower farm levels. Still early, but possibly AA will be his ceiling. In High-A Great Lakes, Hope is crushing the ball, slashing .339/.426/.661 -- I'd be surprised if he's not promoted very soon.
The GROK says a Jackson Ferris mid-July promotion this year makes sense based on his performance, career progression, and the Dodgers pattern of promoting pitchers around the All-Star break. https://grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtMg==_868ee887-1b56-46dc-8d23-8f604a4b0dee
I keep seeing Luis Robert Jr's name getting tossed around as someone the Dodgers should trade for. I'm not liking this. Just have a bad feeling that he'll never approach his '23 numbers again. In fact, it has Profar PED outlier season written all over it. I may be wrong, but unless the price is really, really good, which is not what the White Sox are reported to be thinking, let him be someone else's problem.
Mostly that but also Nightengale, for however little that's worth, has commented on it. So yeah, that makes it unlikely. https://x.com/DodgersNation/status/1913287045117780227
On second thought ... what if this kid is an AI version of Sidd Finch .. somewhere, I have the copy of SI with Plimpton's article on him ... Then there was Steve Dalkowski who WAS a real guy who MAY have thrown upwards of 125 mph ... but probably horseshit.
Read this one a few years ago. All 5-11 of him. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dalko-bill-dembski/1137346942
Wow...Sidd Finch. I am pretty good friends with the guy who took the photograph as Sidd for the baseball card. Were were both competitors at miniature figures art contests held here and there all over the country for years. Oddly, he's from Chicago and I believe a Cub fan. Really shocking you mention him. I believe his connection was a writer photographer who worked for SI and had the same obsession with the miniatures as we did. His name was Lane Stewart. He made a scratchbuilt miniature of Joe Louis knocking out Max Schmeling in a boxing ring, with a photographer with a 30s/ 40s type camera capturing the moment while leaning under the ropes. The whole diorama was, I estmate, 4" X 4" . Spectacular and very inspirational to me as a nouveaux miniature artist at the time. Thanks for triggering those great memories.
