    @Wittman7
    On last nights Dodger talk, Andrew Friedman mentioned word has gotten around how the Dodgers take care of players. To the point where agents now call the Dodgers and say their player would really like to play there if the Dodgers are interested.

    Dave Roberts has grown on me but there's no way Maury Wills passed his # to him. Lol
    I hope his widow or kids come out and discredit him.

    i don’t buy it either
    more likely roberts wore #30 to honor wills, which is fine
    great actually
    and if that’s the case, he should have just been honest instead of trying to guilt tucker out of wanting it
    way to alienate your $240M man doc
    i could definitely see him opting out after two years

    “We’ve agents reach out and say, ‘Hey, I know you haven’t called, but our player would really like to play there.’”

    I don't disagree, but I'm also not big on coddling athletes. Apparently Tucker's contract stipulates that he gets a suite on all road games. Not sure if that's the norm or not, but he should be okay with pivoting to another number.

    i get it
    i just think a number would be more important to a player than a coach or manager
    i want my team’s players as comfortable/confident as possible
    but really don’t give a shyte if roberts is uncomfortable
    that said it sounds like it wasn’t that big a deal for tucker

    Good point plus players typically have superstitions more than managers. I bet Roberts wants to keep it because he expects it to be retired someday, ala Walt and Tommy.

    Private suite? Gtfooh. Kevin Brown had the same rider in his contract; ditto Bonds.

    It's horseshit.

    it goes along w all of his other falsehoods and exaggerations over the years
    doesn't take a stretch to think davey imagines that number as synonymous w little davey roberts hanging in the HOF as the first first whatever
    he's carried on the legacy of Wills did it his way
    maybe he even deserves all those accolades but he didn't have to lie about it and everyone knows he did
    has a manager ever turned down a player request for their number?
    i asked grok and after multiple attempts to protect davey it admitted no other active manager had ever declined and there is no evidence of daveys claim either
    imo he would have looked far more impressive giving it up even if it was a few years since we all know he's here forever barring some unforeseen accident
    but that would require something he doesn't possess
    its a number ffs but yeah i'm sure everyone will get over it
    just another insight into a petty man for me
    bet he would have given it up for Mookie!

    I guess I knew that but it had slipped my mind. The good thing is the Dodgers should be able to get by fine until Edman is ready and SHOULD still be able to get at least a .300 OBP from the 9-spot.

    If it's Rojas, he's at .314 for his career and .318 in 2025.

    If it's Kim, he was at .314 last year, his only season.

    Even Andy Ibanez is at .305 for his career and .301 last year. So whoever plays 2B, I think we can still expect a .300 OPS.

    You know who doesn't get on base in 3 out of every 10 ABs? Unfortunately it's Kike, who's failed to reach that threshold in four straight years. Yes, he comes up big in the playoffs, and his defense and flexibility are pluses during the season, but he's just not one to rely on at the plate for a large number of ABs, and his .255 last year really missed the mark. We'll see what the Dodger plans are for him this year, if any. The others with at least 100 plate appearance and below a .300 OBP were Teoscar (.284), Edman (.274) and Rushing (.258). But also Barnes, Taylor, and Outman combined for over 100 PAs and were closer to .200 than .300, so that hurt. Good riddance, and hopefully the group that is on this year's opening day roster will be better equipped to man the bottom of the order.

    On a related note, I didn't realize that Call actually gets on base a lot. For his career he's at .341, and last year he got on at a .361 clip. So he should help the team in that regard.

    The Yankees claimed Michael Siani off waivers. Dodgers had DFA’d him for Kyle Tucker.

    @MarinoMLB
    From @Joelsherman1, “The Rangers felt the relationship between Marcus Semien and Corey Seager had become so toxic that they were willing to take Nimmo and $5 million from the Mets to move the three years at $72 million owed Semien”

    i often wondered if there was more to us letting corey walk

    @BNightengale
    Yu Darvish, 39, considered an icon among Japanese players who have followed him to MLB, has informed the San Padres that he is retiring. He is walking away from the $43 million left in the next 3 years of his contract, as @sdutKevinAcee reports.

    can’t blame him
    padres organization is a nightmare

    no retraction, no apology (hence) no credibility

    @BNightengale
    San Diego Padres All Star pitcher Yu Darvish says he wants to go through rehab to determine whether he can pitch again before deciding whether he will retire.
