    Fate works in mystrerious ways.
    I have seen no team the Dodgers have played as together and great at basic baseball, or look as good doing it, than the Red Sox. If they keep it up, they will undoubtedly go all the way. And they will have deserved it.

    Will Smith could be back in September from the inflamed disc in his neck. Dalton Rushing is day-to-day with what Dave Roberts called "arm irritation."

    So, the Dodgers called on a familiar face to add some catching depth in Ben Rortvedt, a source said.

    There's only one possible reason that would explain Dodgers not trading Ward today, and that's that there's no interest... but for a low-level prospect, I don't see why most teams wouldn't take a flyer on the 2025 PCL MVP winner. Then again, maybe other GMs don't want to be on the short end of the next Friedman gold-find. At some point you could see that happening.

    But Ward deserves more of a shot than he got this year, and Dodgers really need to clear space for JDP and/or Sirota to get some games in AAA. One of those two should be LA's starting left-fielder in '27.
