Someone on this board will be signed by LA at this rate ...

I nominate @irish to replace Muncy after he's beheaded by his own swing later today...

Oh ... and @fsudog21 4 Teo. Make it happen, Friedman!

    @FabianArdaya
Dave Roberts said he thinks there’s a “very small” chance Dalton Rushing catches again this year. They want to keep him as an option as a left-handed bat, though.

    what a clown
this isn’t a pulled muscle, dave
he has a torn ucl in his throwing arm
and you want to waste a roster spot on a catcher who can’t play defense?
    idiot

Rushing is probably the teams 4th best hitter
It's not crazy to want his bat as an option off the bench
That said, he's going to need surgery just get it done now
The further they delay the surgery the more independently Dalton will have to recover it on his own since the lockout starts on Dec 1. and will last a long time.

I put zero faith into whatever Doctor Dave "thinks" when it comes to medical prognoses. Rushing is done for the year.

I think all the threepeat bullshit was a cosmic setup.
It's hard to be witness to this 180° they have made in the last 25 or so games. Not even a .500 team now.
Trying to analyze it, I see it as the culmination of problems that have been festering for a long time...the first is the age factor of many key players, in all aspects of the roster...top to bottom. It's fucking heeere...
Second, is the propensity for the FO to sign damaged players, who periodically shine, but eventually all become a monotonous drone of IL stints. Accompanied by that relentless lionization of AF. He deserves some indeed, but we are dwelling with results of the other side of it.
And the other thing, which will ultimately result in the greatest honor a baseball player/person can achieve, is the manager. Surrounded totally by the best players out there as an almost fail- proof during his tenure while he's been at the helm, his dullard cavalier attitude about some games works less and less and it seems and has metastasized to the actual roster in performance in all aspects. All.
I feel a sweep for sure, but it can all be righted, at least temporarily, by the next series coming up for LA.

And along with that scary part, is the fact they just won't rotate any kids into those positions ( and there are plenty that could be tried), because they think these past heroes are still going to go on and on. But they won't. And if this recent month of less than mediocre play and boring efforts doesn't illustrate it for them, then take off the damn blindfolds.
This is a smack in the mouth if I ever saw one...

Braves/Brewers now hold the top two spots in the NL. Getting the 3 seed again would be a disaster. Yes, it worked out well for them last season but they were fortunate to draw a really weak Reds team that seemed happy to just make it. As of today, they’d play Philadelphia or Arizona. Two scary opponents imo.

Davey punting games makes no sense when getting a top two seed is the same as winning a playoff series.

This is what gets me. I try to understand, knowing that I'm not privy to all the information he has, but his laid back approach is infuriating at times. There is no excuse for this team not being top one or two seeds. Every team navigates through injuries, so I don't buy that it's due to the Smith/Rushing injuries. The manager has to be able to get the best from his players, and I have never seen that quality from Roberts. Maybe he made some correct decisions with Rojas and Pages in game 7 last year, but like someone else said, I wouldn't be surprised if those calls came from up above. In general, he's just a figurehead, and letting him decide what games to try to win and what games to punt will burn us in the end. There should never be a B-lineup when the A-lineup is healthy. Rest guys if needed one at a time instead of sitting 3 starters simultaneously with a bullpen game. The goal should be a 162-0 season - not realistic I know but the team should have that mindset, and under Roberts I've never seen that.
