I loved this post up until the citizens united thing. I don't like the fact that people are swayed by all the advertising and it essentially buys elections.
But putting the state in control of their own elections by limiting how money is spent on them is an even worse problem. If you think we have a corruption problem now, all this does is ensure only politicians approved by the state can ever be elected.
It's also a very obvious freedom of speech issue. Why should the government be able to say how any person or group can or can't spend their money.

Shit, just eliminating the electoral process and having a lottery for every elected position would be a better solution.
