Does anyone know what company owns the parking lots? They say Frank owns half but that would mean neither party has controlling interest. Could be 51-49% or close to that. Is it still the same company Frank had? Is it a new company? Did the new owners spin it off to a company different from the one that owns the team? Does anyone know or seen anything about. If the payment to rent the lot is 14 million a year and Frank only owns half why is he getting the full amount? Is the team paying 14 million to the company that owns the parking lot and if does that mean Guggenheim gets half of that? Is it someone else who is a part owner who owns half of the parking lot etc etc.

For some reason I want to say that the rent is in the 20m range. Lease he made when he parceled the land up years ago

Huh, why is one of the partial owners of my favorite baseball team analyzing basketball games on ESPN?

I've been to one game and have tix for two more. I'm going to go this year more than I've been in many years. Boycott is over, mission aclomplished! Now I'm going to rubb it in McCunt's face every chance I can.

per Tim Kurkjian, skip to 34:47 in the discussion
    http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=9796141&s=la

most of you know what Olney said about the Dodgers and Price...that's not the focus here. Kurkjian talked to Kasten and i thought i'd just post the message that he received since some doubt that our ownership would be willing to pay Kershaw, Hanley, AND a David Price or Cano. now, Magic came out and said some stuff a while ago about the Cano situation and he was right...300M for Cano isn't happening. however, as Kurkjian said, he talked to Kasten and Kasten told him that ownership wants him to do more and they want him to do it quicker. to look for more ways to bolster the team's immediate standing through trades and/or signings.

so sit back, pop some popcorn and just watch. so long as they don't deal Seager or Urias it's all good. we should be fine if they deal Joc or Lee ( or even one or a couple of our established outfielders)...especially if they sign Tanaka and they already have Numata on the way.

" they have enough money to do whatever they want. " - Kurkjian. makes sense for an ownership group who controls 180+Billion and doesn't have to use a cent of it because of their partnership with Time Warner. just saying. stop trying to put a cap on what they're willing to spend or do...they care about 3 things when it comes to the on-field product. 1) winning championships, 2) the years they have to commit themselves to these players, and 3) the farm and constantly adding to it.

At some point the Luxury tax = throwing money away and/or giving it to other teams.
The madness has to stop someday.

What else could they possibly do?

I'd hate to be a fan of another NL West team.

get Guerrero signed or wait the Cano situation out and jump in and steal him away for something like 5yrs/150M. IMO, all they have to do is get close to the Yankees' number and they'll have the inside track on Cano because supposedly Cano wants to play with Hanley. 150M seems like a big number, and it's probably around what the Yankees are gonna offer, but again...all our ownership cares about are the years they'll have to commit to him. if he's hitting 3rd or 4th and bolstering our lineup helping them win titles over the next 5 years, they've won.

also, " decisive deals " as Kurkjian said...maybe move Kemp or one or two of the other outfielders and bringing up Joc...or dealing Joc and maybe Lee.

    trading for or signing Price.

whatever it is, expect something because this team is pretty good, but it can be better. the organization is in pretty good standing, but it can be better too.

There's no such thing as "being realistic" with this ownership. I love it. How far we've come from trading Carlos Santana to save $1MM, or the nixed Sabathia/Lee trades

If I were an opposing team, I'd hope for the Dodgers winning the World Series; because who knows what the hell they'll do if they don't.

as far as ownership's overall goal...they want the Dodgers in the same breath as the Lakers, Yankees, Cowboys, Manchester United, etc...the premier franchises in all of sports. the only way to do that is to spend money ( Time Warner's money that is), win titles, and make the kind of money that those clubs make. because for 1) you can't claim to be great in LA unless you're a champion. we don't buy all that " we had a solid year " shit. you either won it all or you didn't. this is title town. where UCLA basketball won a shit load of titles. where USC football won a shit load of titles. where the Lakers are king because of all their titles. where the Kings and the Galaxy have won recent titles. you don't even register in LA if you didn't win the championship, so you can't even begin to look at the Lakers, Yankees, Cowboys, Manchester United, etc until you do that. that's the overall message.
