Now you may remember the Bereans which Jesus points to.
Berea was city in Macedon that was a major center for the invading Persians.

The Bereans became the best servants of the Persians. They charmed the pants off those guys.

So when they heard the first Christians these noble Bereans did what they do best.

But what did the people of Thessaly do when they saw the Bereans taking up what they themselves were given first but had disregarded?
They became enraged from a sort of jealousy I guess.
When the Bereans came along, a people everyone understood as knowing whats up... it made the people of Thessaly look like out of touch boomers in comparison.

They mocked the truth and hated on Paul but when they saw how well the Bereans reacted to Paul it made them hate Paul and the Christians even more.

Before we did it in secret or with plausible deniability or for 'democracy/freedom/liberty' or any other reason that could be sold to the emotionally manipulated mob.
That is fascism. We have been fascist for a long time.

When your political leaders no longer care about optics but law enforcement hides behind veils then you know you have already passed over the temporary step of fascism.
