Orange Blossom Junction in Exeter, Ca. Small town about seven miles east of Visalia in the Sierra foothills.

We used to retire to the bar after some shows. Sardinas sat down with us for drinks one evening. Great guy.

Trout is a killer in the tradition of former Mayall lead guitarists.

Like so many of my friends who have been posting about it, I'm very sad to hear of the passing of the remarkable David Lindley. Here's a lovely story about David that I'd like to pass along, as told by my former Fly-Rite steel player Lee Jeffriess [IMG]:
    "When my Bigsby triple neck
    steel was stolen along with
about 80% of Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys' gear
out of our van (in broad
    daylight) Dave Lindley heard
about it via his daughter. When
I got back into town she called
me up and said "My Dad has a
    Rickenbacker triple neck and
wants to know if you want it."
DOES THE POPE WEAR A SILLY HAT?! Big Sandy and I were out the door in a flash; he was only about 20 mins away. On the way over Robert (Big Sandy) asked me "So who is giving you a steel ?" and I replied, "You know that gal that comes and sees us play up at the Doll Hut on Mondays... her name is Rosanne. She said her
dad has loads of steels and all
kinds of stringed instruments... I think their name is... Lindley?" Robert was startled and he asked "Is her dad DAVID Lindley ?" And, to be honest, I
    wasn't totally sure! I actually
    didn't know who he was!
Growing up in the UK and being
immersed in 40/50's music, Mr. Lindley was not on my radar. Robert filled me in pretty quick on his status and I think we were both a little nervous when we arrived. But that soon
    dissipated after we were
greeted by Dave. He treated us
like old friends, a very warm
and funny man. I wished I had
gone back later and grilled him
on some of the stories he told
us about Doc Kauffman and about going to see Speedy & Jimmy play live on KXLA in Pasadena. He was into everything we were into! Finally at the end he says "Well, here's the guitar. I wanted to just give it to you, but Rosanne thinks you should pay for it (he rolled his eyes at her). So I tell you what... I payed $100 for this guitar in 1973. Just give me my money back." God rest his soul.
    ~ Lee Jeffriess

I know Sandy of Big Sandy. He would've played my wedding if he wasn't already booked. Superb guy, and Lee is a good guy too. When he and I realized we were both Lindley geeks ... Welp, @irish imagines we kissed, but it was obvious that we both were friends right there.

Hey. Nobody lives forever. I just wish some great people lived longer.

    Yeah. Good stuff that.

Zenyatta Mondatta is their best album in my opinion.

Between Rush, Cream, ZZ Top, Hendrix & the Experience, and The Police, I could listen all day and never pick who's best. I love all their noise.

Clapton, Bruce and Baker were the Mays, Clemente and Aaron of rock. All three at the top of their game. Crossroads from the Wheels of Fire LP was perfection. Listen to each of them individually in this. Incredible.

i remember when they came onto the scene
    truly original sound
    there first album was legendary
sting’s voice was a fresh unique taste of something we weren’t used to
roxanne was the big hit, and understandably so
but this was always my favorite
so much energy and fire that a (then) 19 year old could relate to
