While it can be irritating to watch Will Smith come back down to earth, we have to remember that we don't need him to be a .300 hitter with 30 bombs. We just need him to be physically capable of getting a hit, which Barnes was unable to do. Nestle Smithers in the 8 spot and let him be the serviceable .260/.330/.450 guy he is.

It is concerning, however, that many of our young guys and even veterans look like they are out of gas. We've experienced it in the past and it is happening again. I don't follow baseball closely enough as a whole to know whether this happens to other teams or not. But I feel like our guys get burned out bigtime.

As for lux, we will see what happens. Not every rookie can come up and light the world on fire. He still might. But If it isn't in the cards for him to contribute in the post season, at least Muncy is looking good defensively and Taylor, Freese, etc. are healthy and looking good. As long as it isn't Enrique benefiting.

Feels like we’re getting great looks at potential bullpen pieces. The relievers, outside of Kenley, have looked pretty good

I think we all tend to forget these guys are human
they smoked the division and almost the entire league and now they're well aware of their shortcomings the last years
not one of them doesn't understand what's at stake and their minds and bodies wander
the same way guys start or stop hitting at the same time
or the bp and starting pitching challenge each other to perform its on them and they know it
are we destined to be the braves of this decade?
I certainly hope not and little things I'm seeing tell me this is the year
its basically davey and the FO getting real because the talent is definitely there

Like what they're getting out of Ferguson, Kolarek and Stripling lately. Hoping one of them crowds Yimi aside on the post season roster.

Has been something special to watch. Indeed.
I don't believe they can stay with who they will face, even in the NL, with the starters/ closer looking as they do presently.
But it has been a wonderful regular season ride, and more than fun watching HRs fly and rookies rake.
The 39 (?) come from behind wins alone are Hollywood script stuff.
Take away Jansen and early Kelly garbage, and it could have been even more exceptional than it is already.

Stripling is the most underrated pitcher on this team IMO. Always is pretty solid. Never has an ERA over 4. Super versatile. Idk if he’s someone you want on a playoff roster cause at end of the day idk if his underlying stuff is elite but good fastball/curveball combo that continuously gets outs for us. Just been a great pitcher to have these last 4 years, especially during the regular season.

Haven’t watched a full game in a week or so. What looks different about Ferguson?

I'd like to know as well, since I haven't been watching either. Monday had been saying since spring training that he was tipping his pitches and he could see it on the broadcasts. Ferguson has also admitted to losing his feel for his curveball at the end of last season and was still struggling with that as well. Seems like shitty cocktail, but god damn would it be great if he figured things out now.

    he’s not flashy
but you need guys like strip on your staff
the championship 88 team had a couple... holton, crews, leary
and they were just as vital as anyone on that roster

looked like he was hitting his spots for the most part
and when he missed he didn’t leave pitches out over the plate
can’t recall who the hitter was, but he threw one pitch about chest high and 94...
and the hitter had zero chance
    hopefully he’s figured something out

I think he touched 97 and 96 a couple times too. Curve ball was dirty the other day.

    Alex Wood or Chicken Strip
These two always seemed to compete for that end of the rotation/long relief role.
    Wood seemed more talented.
But hoss wasn't a boss like Ross.

    mexicans > whites
we make cheap tacos so you can eat them
and spike them with extra hot sauce
then charge you 3 bucks for an horchata
    same concept
