in fairness he made some big strides in just staying out of the way for the most part but still almost lost it if not for Kike but I'm sure he expects to be the highest paid manager in the game and that's not who he is add 2 years at 6 mil per and watch the screams of racism fill the ravine he'll try to take the whole team down guaranteed
I don't see or categorise anything he's done as exceptional, even with the Plague year little WS win and last year. I think 30 ML managers with the teams he was provided, and even with the injuries, could have equalled his results...in many cases, surpassed it with at least one more win in the amount time he's been button pusher at LA. I said that I would wait to see how he is before I complained about him this season, given the WS championship, but my core screams out that I can't wait. So in other terms, I lied.
well we all saw him immediately run to the microphones and take credit for the SD win and then multiple times I saw him bring up the expected big payday most notably w big papi and arod on a post game show dude is pretty sure he's the best manager in the game right now and raw wins and losses outside of the playoffs would seem to support it too bad they don't do WAR with the managers cause then he'd be further down the list at like 10th or something if the team wants to avoid a shit show I don't think they have a choice but to offer him the highest salary or he's going to take it as an insult my prediction is 3/30 and he's the mayor Bradley of Dodger managers hanging around for decades longer probably wants his dome on the side of the stadium w the superstars as part of the negotiations
For me (and I realize I'm not going out on a limb here), I want championships. Not just impressive regular season win tallies. Not division wins. Not pennants. Only WS wins matter. Prior to last year, some fans were heralding Roberts because of all the division wins during his tenure. Taking divisions is great if you convert some of those into championships, and before '24, all he could claim was winning once in a 60-game season played in front of cardboard cutouts. Now he has two. That's juuuuuuust enough for me to call off the dogs for a while, but with the team he has, he needs to add to that number quickly or once again some fans, myself included, will start thinking he's not made to lead in the postseason. But absolutely what he has accomplished career-to-date is not as impressive as he might think.
I say he'll be around for potentially as long as Smokey Alston was, unless somebody visits him one day and cuts his fucking chest open like Vito Andolini did to Don Ciccio.
meh roberts is the definition of mid i’ll keep quiet until he does something that pisses me off then i’ll go off — rationally or not that’s how i roll
This is 100% fuckin A right on with me. Only if he wins the WS THIS YEA, then I'll take back my criticisms and blow a hobo if I have to ... Back-to-back or fuck off, Scarecrow.
dude. I get you're from another generation but this hate speech isn't cool. Turn down Faux News and grow a brain.
for an organizational award, he sure says “I” a lot “I do think that it was the best job of managing I did — and you’ve known me for a long time and it’s not about the individual awards,” Roberts said. “I do think that the Manager of the Year is an organization award — certainly a coaching staff award — and we got overlooked. I guess it’s part of the blessing and a curse when you put this Dodgers uniform on. I do think that it was a lazy look at kind of the voting part of it, but it’s not personal to me. I’m still proud of what we did all year to have the best record in all of baseball given what we went through and ultimately hoist that trophy and win that last game of the year — pretty remarkable and something I’ll remember forever.”
Hopefully the FO keeps giving him a primo roster. Can't imagine him creating victories with a lesser arsenal.
Q: What's the last thing you ever wanna hear if you're in an alley blowing Willie Nelson? A: "I'M NOT WILLIE NELSON!!!!"
