man i wish they had stuff like that in Thai town!
there was/is a Thai band called Loso (low society) that i could enjoy but in Hollywood it was Elvis or bust
i'm sure ive told that Elvis story more than once here lol
lot more bad karaoke swilling beer wondering if the chick i was sitting with was worth another millisecond of enduring it

Empire of the sun was epic!
wasn't sure what to expect but it was so much fun and a lady who was my mom's doppelganger was bopping to the music off to my right
kids and oldies alike and everyone smiling and partying
only thing political he said was there was some major distortion in the universe we all need to work through
openly spoke about God and the forces of decency overcoming it all in the end
very much recommend seeing them live cause its visually excellent and impossible to walk away in a bad mood

so Mac is a complete loon that also happens to make a huge amount of cool little ditties
after singing this song tonight someone in crowd screamed "take off your pants" and his response was "how about the epidermis from my arm"
then you can all play in the sinewy muscle and maybe taste it and rip arm off and get your fingers and hand into my chest cavity and open up my stomach so you can smell it
grab one of my turds and use it for lipstick and start kissing each other...
totally random madness that i guess was amplified times a million when he drank and chain smoked viceroys on stage
then his father died and he gave up his vices while forging a mostly instrumental path for himself
it was still hysterical as he talked about being old and why his bassist was a freak etc.
lot of dedicated fans for sure and an entertaining night
guitarist that he kept calling his banjo player was hitting Glen Campbell notes and i kept getting lost in it
interesting artist and you'd be seriously underestimating him if you labeled him a clown
    lot more going on there.

yeah thanks for posting this i had heard they did tiny desk
cool not to have synths and hear them playing instruments
even though Parker is Tame it looks like he's kept his band fairly intact
he started as very guitar based trippy stoner music and the last album was almost disco
evolving is normal and interesting but so far just haven't heard anything new that grabbed me
maybe just needs to grow on me
loser acoustic has a flamenco quality which i absolutely love

the new album reminds me of the type of dance music mixed at house parties in the 90s here in the sgv

i read reviews and they are pretty bad
but im enjoying it for my own reasons

the first song is probably about drugs and relationships but it also reminds me of old musical ways that he was influenced by early and i really like it
the lyrics of the second song together with the music brings back a lot of memories and weird feelings for me but good overall
the third song is trying to sound a little like a little of the off the wall michael jackson slickness with a thriller vibe and i like it
the fourth song reminds me of what a black sabbath song would sound like if they more psychedelia instead of metal so obviously
i really like it and its probably the big single

yeah at the fifth song i was like ok.... but its probably going to be a big hit internationally
sixth song reminds me of a synthwave song from some no name youtuber that i would probably listen to in the background
7th is a nice lullaby for his child, its sweet and all and the girls will eat it up
8th song is a slowed down lower fi fuzzy version of late 90s r&b/dance songs by a black chicks and is alright

9th is straight house music for most of the song and thats actually pretty fucking good and im gonna play it loud this weekend
10th song did not do much for me, seems the weakest of the bunch but i only listened to it twice
11th sounds like if michael jackson was fronting the yazoo or something and quincy jones came along to make it even extra catchy
12th is interesting and is probably the one thats going to grow on me over time the most

the last album was so good and sort of a culmination of all he was trying to become and then the covid lie came upon us all
but it broke like nothing he'd ever done to that point and suddenly everyone wanted to jump their train
always hard to follow up something like that and so when i heard some of the lyrics to one of the songs released first i thought it would be lacking
remember when the Eagles followed Hotel California w the Long run and how i just wouldn't listen to it after hearing the title song
then started hearing hearthache tonight and was like fuck the Eagles i hate this band
then a buddy played Those shoes and Disco Strangler which led to listen to the album and In the City, I can't tell you why
so i'm just going to kind of ignore it and assume there's something worthwhile as he makes this transition in his life
pretty sure he's got the staying power of an Alex Turner type individual of which there are fewer an fewer
