Are these contracts guaranteed? Do ratings count? If it's guaranteed this could really drag out, if not the dodgers need to lobby to get deals in place even if they aren't involved in the actual dealings.

I'm assuming it's guaranteed, because pretty much all contracts in baseball are. I don't think the Dodgers have to worry about ratings, the teams the last 2-3 years have been more talented than all Dodger teams in the past 20-30 years. It's the cable/satellite companies being cheap/difficult.

All the numbers I've seen don't suggest that TWC's asking price is within the range of other regional sports networks, but considerably higher. The climate between sports networks and cable companies has only gotten more and more hostile over the past couple decades, so I don't know why TWC thought they could walk in with an asking price that is about 30-40% higher than anything comparable (since Stan didn't want to divulge numbers, I'm going with these numbers based on what I've seen reported).

It's possible TWC just severely misjudged the market. Sounds simple, but I don't think they are that dumb considering they've gone through this before.
It's more likely they never sincerely intended to make deals until they fleeced all the customers they could from competitors,
Or it was something they wanted in their portfolio for the sale to Comcast, and they never had a well thought out plan.

I don't think deals get done until TWC drops their asking price. It looks to me like the other carriers have committed to losing customers over this, so I doubt they change their mind a week or two into the season and offer to pay TWC's current asking price. There are only so many customers they will lose over this.

    It's all up to TWC.

So is there no more Fox Saturday Baseball on network TV? Are all the Saturday Fox games on FS1 now?

There will still be several weeks of Fox Saturday games on big Fox as well, but many of the games are going to FS1, yes.

It is time for another reality check or lets say to update previous discussions that were not fully read due to rose colored glasses that are now not as rosey. This article was from November and now has a more timely read.

Good fuck. I hope she's not referring to the YES network that carries the Yankees, Nets, and other New York sports; Root Sports Pittsburgh that carries the Pirates, Penguins, AND Steelers; and Fox Sports San Diego that carries the Padres, Ducks, Kings, Clippers, and Chivas USA.
How dumb to you think we fucking are TWC? Go fuck yourselves you asscrust tweaking lying pieces of shit.

How fucking embarrassing this is for the Dodgers and TWC.

The worst part is, I'm locked into 2 more years with DirectTV after upgrading to the genie shit that should be standard.

I just can't believe TWC is trying to compare apples to oranges by saying their asking price for SportsnetLA is comparable to other regional sports networks with multiple sports teams. They are already charging $3.25/subscriber for the Lakers and are now asking well over $4 for the Dodgers. I doubt there are any multi-team regional sports stations charging $8/subscriber, which is what TWC would be getting for the Lakers-Dodgers at the current asking price. It's annoying that Stan also backs TWC as being reasonable when they clearly aren't.
