Here's hoping their fans don't become like Red Sox fans after they won.

    Ugh, that's all we need.

    Which is a shame.

As one who grew up a Red Sox fan, we were always the underdog.

As you've probably read in the past, once I moved to Tampa I switched allegiances knowing a) they needed me more and b) I had celebrated joy in 2004 and 2007 after such misery in '78, 86 and beyond.

Too many Sox fans out there now don't understand the true suffering that once came with being a Sox fan... and I didn't even include '67 and '75 'cause I was too young then.

i always felt sorry for sox fans
and i loved the way they've embraced buckner since winning
i don't feel the same way for cubs fans though
they always acted entitled whereas boston seemed to embrace the misery
cubs fans right now are unbearable...
i hope they get swept in the lds, even if they're playing the hated giants

It took a while for them to embrace Buckner though, man.

That poor fucking guy could barely leave his house, he he.

    and he didn't deserve that
mcnamara used to routinely replace him on defense late in games with dave stapleton
but he felt bucker deserved to be on the field to celebrate
    best laid plans

    as for buckner
    22 years, .289 lifetime average
had great wheels when he was younger
    stole 31 bases in 1974, 28 in 1976
he and maury wills were one of the best hit & run tandems i've ever seen
would have been a hall of famer had he not hurt his knees
borderline regardless, collecting 2700+ despite having zero wheels the last 10-12 years of his career
in case you hadn't noticed, buckner was one of my favorites as a kid
just crushed me when that ball went through his legs
but very happy boston finally forgave him

Oh, I remember it well, I.

Had Calvin Schiraldi been able to get anyone out, it would never have some to that.

    yup
people tend to forget the back-to-back-to-back singles and a wild pitch that preced it

He he, I. Between 1986 and 2004, I tried to forget about it many times.
