saw them at the forum when this album had just come out, 1977 i believe
revolving stage, great music, a lot of weed, and my first date with a girl named suzy
    was a much simpler time

I met a lot of ren people at my previous job.
They seemed to be really into it.
I definitely understood the attraction to the whole thing.
When you went to these things was there bands playing modern music in medieval arrangements/instrumentation?
I imagine ren fair like a travelling medieval themed circus/theme park where the costumed customers are also the cartoon characters kids and tourist get to stare at while walking around.

i was going in the early 80s and it was complete debauchery
I think @irish was at those too but all the music and dress was pretty traditional in a LA stoner way
the actors were dressed in total period costume and did plays and cruised around
most people at least wore a loose white shirt, hat and had a pewter beer mug
the women were totally loose and they would come up dancing around you w their tits hanging out and force you to kiss them to leave
if you were playing along you had your tongue down 50 girls mouths in a day and grabbed everything you could get your hands on
they had games like soak a bloak and drench a wench where you fired soaked sponges at people on a hill side and when you hit them you got to make out w them
they had ale taxes where you buy a beer and someone approaches and says "ale tax" and if she's pretty she gets a tilt of the pint and you get rewarded
i heard rumors of orgies at night and it wouldn't have surprised me

Saw them in the early 70s. They did the show in quad.

It was a thing for a very short period of time. https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/11/01/quadraphonic-sound-podcast/

ELP did a show at the same venue a week later in the same format.

    fond memories of those days
the whiskey, the starwood, gazzare’s (sp) and dance clubs like 321, cattle barons, flippers, le hot club, and many others i can’t recall
@LAdiablo there was a couple out your way but i don’t remember the names
the celebs were usually cool, but the pseudo celebs that had zero talent were often douchey
toni basil literally grabbed me at the whiskey and ordered me to dance with her
crazy bkitch started doing wild kicks and shit that scared me sober
oh yeah, red onion and tennessee gin and cotton lol
they say you often remember things more fondly than they were... but i don’t believe that was the case with the 80’s

Saw Humble Pie on their first US tour. My first and only visit to the Fillmore West. They were fourth bill behind Sea Train, Ry Cooder and headliner Savoy Brown. Saw them about 4 years later when they were headlining.

One of the best live LPs ever. Marriott was one of the best frontmen ever.

their names... the mystic knights of the oingo boingo
later i worked with this dude named sol who played guitar in a garage band
one day sol says, dude call me slash
i wonder what happened to those guys...

Marriot was a way under rated witch
dude had a personality and stage presence 100 times his diminutive size
what a fucking party that night was
"it takes a dirty whore and a rolling dance floor boy you're jailhouse bound"
i remember dancing w a whore in TJ after the off the wall Michael Jackson had just come out in 79
"dont stop to you get enough" came on and i was w 2 other Navy squids winding down the night
we had just eaten some street tacos and had dropped acid maybe 5 hours before
suddenly this puta is in my grill and for the first time i hear that song
giant disco ball and my head spinning round w a rolling dance floor, i was pretty sure it wasn't going to end well but it did
got back across the border and drove the rented pinto back to base
sorry if i've told that story before
